Gold Disc replicas???

Hi, maybe someone can help. Obviously Queen were given many a gold  disc, but what is the diff between the ones (replica) sold on ebay/private auction sites etc (£170 ish). Are these just fake by buyer or are they part of limited edition.

my sister wants to buy a metallica gold framed disc for her bf, but was wondering what the difference is and if they are official in any way or just nice on the eye???

I would be happy to carefully cover the label and spray paint the record, let it dry, find some cheap matting and a frame from the dollar store.  $200.

Don't buy 'em they are crap, if you can buy an official one from m.gaetjens (i think that's how he spells his name), on ebay. He had Crazy Little Thing Called Love and the Innuendo Album Gold Discs a while ago.
