Exact Audio Copy problem

Hi Folks.
Does anyone use EAC for ripping discs?
I've just started using it to rip concert material for uploading and I've discovered that it's adding silence to the start and end of every track.
Is there a way to stop it doing this?
Does it do it to anyone else?
It's hardly an "exact audio copy" if it's adding silences!

Very odd... I looked through the menus and couldn't find anything.

If you're on PC, I'd just use Windows Media Player... a single mouse click does the job.
