The same picture is at least in the DVD-cover: Freddie Mercury - Lover of Life, Singer of Songs.

I don't have the time to watch the DVD right now, but it's possible it's in one of the videoes...?

I haven't seen the video, but I'm sure it exhists (from a live video)

And man, I had some lady make me one of those and I nearly got my ass kicked when I walked down the road with it, so try not to get one.

Ok...my theory on this is that it's from 1984 - and some date on one of the tours from that year.

Perhaps Martin (Queenconcerts.com) might be able to verify ?

If you check the 'Made In Heaven' single cover - you will see a similiar photo with the same jacket in question.

Given that Made in Heaven was released in 1985, I would assume that it would use photos from around that time...and perhaps tour photos from previous year.

This jacket was only worn on the Japan tour in 1985....unless anyone can give any evidence to the contrary. It's not actually feathers, but satin arrows.
It used to hang at the Queen offices at Pembridge Road in London for a while too.

This jacket was made for the HOT SPACE tour. And indeed they are arrows made from leather. Freddie only worn the jacket on the first few HOT SPACE concerts, later he decided that the jacket was to heavy and changed his outfit as seen on the Milton Keynes DVD , the red and white black jackets!

No I don;t think any video recording of a live show was made while wearing this jacket.

Besides that I don;t like the jacket, I prefer the red and white ones...

It's indeed from the Hot Space era but I think he didn't wear it in Europe but during the North American tour. Check out the pictures on www.queenlive.ca for the Oakland 7/9/82 show. He wears it there.

Just because you haven't seen the video doesn't mean it wasn't filmed.  What makes you think what you have seen is the benchmark for what exists everywhere else?

That said, it's possible that GT is right, and Freddie wore it again in '85 (although Japan '82 is more plausible as Freddie probably wasn't the type to recycle clothing after 3 years).  However, it's impossible to disprove without evidence.  We've only seen footage from two of the five Japan '85 shows, and no other pictures.

Myself, I think the jacket looked very elegant on him.

Thanks Sikke....it was indeed the 1982 concerts and not 1985 as I stated...my finger must have pressed the wrong key!
But it was definately not in Europe just the USA and Japan, and it was silk / satin and not leather!
