On the tour for The Game, Freddie would come out for the second encore of We Will Rock You on the shoulders of a crew member dressed as Darth Vader. After finding out about this, George Lucas threatened to sue the band, and so they stopped doing the gag. Kind of odd, in my opinion, as it was free publicity for Star Wars... but to each their own.
The video for Calling All Girls, from Queen's next record, heavily referenced Lucas' old movie THX 1138.
Are the two things related?

The most funny thing is that Freddie sings in Bicycle Race that he doesn't like Star Wars :-)

Two idiotic replies to a serious point, how helpful.
It may well be related. The most interesting part is that Lucas does not seem to have taken the least bit offence from the Calling All Girls video. I would say that the very act of filing a complaint against the Darth Vader-thing was meant for free publicity. It would also be worth noting that Lucas has a record of obsessive, ad absurdum pursuit of profits from his products.

Lucas is also known for letting people use Star Wars and NOT bother them with it. At least over the past years.
I can imagine after the last of the original movies was released in 1983 he was still trying to protect that property, but seeing television shows these days useing a lot of star wars references (especially in Family Guy) and knowing Lucas fully approves of these it does sound a bit strange that he would sue Queen over something like this.

Queen could easily have counter sued Lucas I think... doesn't Vader without the mask look a dead ringer for Freddie in 1992...

George Lucas is a well known attention whore.

maybe the reason lucas didn't sue them for calling all girls video is that he never saw it. it wasn't very popular and it was rarely played

Fair point.
