If what you say is true - don't put up with this behaviour you are simply being manipulated and used. As for a certain person's threats I wouldn't take this too seriously; I really doubt he can have any significant influence on what you do.
Personnally I'd be tempted to give them a lift and leave them with no way back. You'd have to be mental to ask someone for assistance and then in the next breath slag them off.
