It could have been that he was just asked to support a young artist. And he agreed to do it, since Katy`s favourite singer is Freddie. And, guys, he may have been paid for it...Sometimes things like that happen in showbusiness. But his comparing Katy to Freddie is unacceptable, what was he thinking about when he did that??? I am shocked. Who is Katy, who`s that? She will be forgotten in some 2 years. There are hundreds of such Katys if not more. So, it must have been a joke. i can`t believe that Brian actually did that.

That's not true.  Freddie's was a fan of Perry Como and it got lost in translation.

He also liked Steve Perry, Phil Perry, and the band Pere Ubu.

Did I miss something?, I didn't see where Brian compares her to Freddie...

I've seen her perform live on TV, an she CAN'T sing!

I don't think it matters if she can sing or not. I don't think this kind of music is made to be played live.

Oh PLEASE! Enough of the blind devotion and outright rejection of the idea that anyone can be compared to Freddie! I've been a HUGE Queen fan since the 70's, and Freddie is one of my biggest inspirations as a singer and writer, but come on! Really guys, Brian did not compare Kathy Perry to Freddie, he simply opinioned that she was a skilled live performer and that he was very impressed with her show, that's all. What's wrong with that? Freddie used to go on about how Boy George was amazing and would be around forever........see, even Fred wasn't infallable!!! Does Brian May no longer have the right to say he really enjoyed another artists performance without Queen fans assuming he's comparing them to Freddie or automatically planning of replacing Freddie with yet another Queen+ singer now Paul Rogers is back with Bad Company. If we're honest, that's what this debate is about, as Queen fans we are scared shitless that Brian and Roger will tour again under the Queen moniker with an even more inferior fronthman thus dilutiing the history of Queen and diminishing the name of the band. 
I have a solution if anyone wants to hear?

Very Dissapointed in this thread, I though May was comparing STEVE Perry of Journey to Freddie... That would be an far better discussion then Katy... She can't eve be compared to Freddies toenail.

We all know Paul Rodgers performs intercourse with Brian.

Brian is Paul's bitch.

I must admit I don't think Brian was comparing Katy to Freddie but oh well.

At least she's got taste in the music she listens to if nothing else
