Richard Orchard posted a message about a Dave Thompson article in the current issue of Goldmine about the Queen album Sheer Heart Attack, and it reminded me of the book that Thompson has out called I Hate New Music. I have been interested in reading this but the reviews are all over the place, with a number of people hating it, and others calling disappointing fluff. A few have ventured to say that it is entertaining. I haven't decided whether it is worth even the cost of a used copy at Amazon. Has anyone here read it, and if so what is your opinion?

Looking at your title, for a moment you had me thinking you were a Treasure Moment-clone. Thankfully, that is not the case.

Looking at the title, for a moment I thought s/he had a 13-year-old in the house and has been forced to listen to endless hours of Beyonce singing, "Halo". God help me. I kinda wish that was the topic. I feel the need to commiserate.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not enthused about new music. I much prefer it from before synthesizers, and electronic drums became staples. My mind is open enough to not say that I outright "hate" it, though.

Ah, yes, but there's still a difference between (new) music and teeny-bop, if you ask me.
