England are my 2nd fav team after South Africa, and here's hoping you go on to win the series [/img] .

^ thats gone and put the 'mockers' on it now :-[
75 years we waited to beat the convicts at Lords, lets hope the physios can keep Freddie Flintoff fit for the rest of the tests and while we are on the subject of the Ashes, lets hope the Aussies keep that Johnson fellow in the squad,i reckon i could get at least a 50 if he was bowling his sorry excuse of a delivery at me.
oh btw, watching Shane Warnes smug mug slowly disappear to a scowl over 5 days was worth the subscription to Sky Sports alone :-]

Looks like Freddie Flintoff is having fitness issues alreday and is unlikely to play all the remaining matches. That would seriously hamper your bowling attack.

^ if they look after Freddie like they used to do with Botham back in the mid 80's then i can see Flintoff playing in all the tests.Give him a 5 over burst once an hour or so
Pietersen however is out after having surgery on his achilles so it looks like a recall for Ian Bell or Rob Key to bat at 3 or 4.personally i'd recall Harmison instead and have 5 fast bowlers for Edgbaston and move everyone else up a place in the batting order .

What do you think of Andy Flower as a coach? I feel he was a solid top-order batsman for Zimbabwe, but unfortunately was in the wrong team as a player. And I think he is doing a better job as a coach compared to the Peter Moores with whom Peitersen had issues. Peitersen even went on record saying that England had a chance of winning back the Ashes as Peter Moores was not coaching the team anymore [/img]

he seems to be doing a good job so far, there's a 'togetherness' within the team again which wasnt there under Moores.
im concerned over Strauss' captaincy though,he seems too defensive in his tactics, maybe thats down to Flower too but the captain is the one in the firing line at the moment.I would of definately made the Aussies follow on in the last test and the 'negativity' of the captain's decisions in the caribbean cost England the series there at the beginning of the year.
i dont like the idea of Ian Bell being recalled either for the next test, the aussies have the 'shermanator' in their pocket and he's been woeful for England the last 2/3 years

Bell would be playing on his home-ground at Edgbaston and hopefully he knows the pitch well enough to tackle the aussie attack.
On another note, I feel it may have been better for England if the 2nd match had ended in a draw. The Aussies now have 3 matches to make up for the one loss and they are gonna be all charged up. We know what they can do at their vicious best, don't we. So if the 2nd match had ended in a draw and England had won the 3rd match, that would have put more pressure on them. Ofcourse that's is not the situation now, and England will have to play out of their socks in the next game, more so if Lee becomes fit to play.
By the way its nice talking to an Englishman who knows his cricket [/img]
A English customer named Mr. Crickets visited my company last year and, India being a cricket crazy country, everyone he met made some small talk connecting his name to the game. However, he was least interested in cricket and infact could not name a sinlge player from the national squad. He did give me the impression that people donot follow the game too much in England, unlike, say, football or even rugby.

as a country we see cricket as a bit 'elitist' and 'old boys jolly hockey sticks' so its not for the masses UNTIL the Aussies arrive :-]

its a shame brett lee isn't fit yet. its always great to see a quality genuine fast bowler bowl. theres not many bowlers on either side who you wouldnt want to miss a single delivery.

yeah, the rivalry between Lee and Flintoff is worth paying the entrance fee just on its own,i fear for the Aussies attacking options without Lee in the line-up.
it looks as if Bell is gonna get the call up to replace Pietersen on Thursday which will please the Aussies.i dont rate him at all to be honest.

The England batting line up looks kinda flimsy without KP. Having Boprara (lacking confidence) and Bell (returning after being dropped) in the same team leaves me nervous. England will need another solid start.
Having said that, this is still the weakest Austrialian bowling up I've seen for about 19 years!

thats why im in 2 minds about Broad.he's not exactly bowilng great but his batting has been quite useful of late.if it wasnt for that i would drop him for Harmison.the aussies fear him big time
agneepath! 11994 · Member since
harmison needs a pitch with pace and bounce - otherwise he fairly useless. Yeah - Broad has been disppointing so far but we are 1 up in the series, so no need to be desparate.

that was a stroke of luck for the Aussies with Haddin getting injured.the only thing he was likely to catch this summer was swine flu!
and that will teach me not to watch the first over of the morning.i turn the tv on and Onions has already taken 2 wickets with his first 2 deliveries and the Aussies have decided that the best way to play cricket is by waving the bat above their shoulders and getting out LBW or watching their off stump whistle past Matt Prior behind the stumps.
keep it going our colonial convicts and you will be 2-0 down by the end of the weekend :-]
