Let me try to answer this although I have never been on the convention.
- When you are a fan club member you get an invitation to the convention together with the fan club magazine around Christmas. In this invitation all details like date. location, room prices and travel guide are listed. You must then send an email and money to book your rooms. Each fan club member can bring one non-member but the non-member pays a bit more.
The convention last about 3 days and has events like
- a market where you can buy Queen items
- various cover groups
- an auction
- various competitions like trivia competition, dress competition
- Queen related guests like Peter Freestone, the Queen Archivist, Mike Moran etc
all kind of other activities I just do not know because I have never been there.
Just remember that you have to book early when you want to attend - mainly from Brazil which is quite a long way to go. If you want to calculate your costs I recommend you email Jacky and ask her about the estimated prices for the next convention. In the last years the convention took place by the end of March.
I hope that helps, lady :-)

I know Jon, Maggie, Aylen and Jess will agree with me on this: meeting people you just chat with, or message through these threads is always an interesting moment.
I started meeting people from here 2 years ago, when Tijn and Rick came to visit me in Gran Canaria. I know 4 qzoners already in person, but I would love to meet more people.
So for a night of drinks and fun count me in!!!

I was going to have a Perth QZ Convention but the only other person that I know from here is my nephew and he was banned for posting album covers with "AIDS" written on them.

So at the moment, I am the convention.
Your Valentine basically re-worded my answer.
- a market where you can buy Queen items
(Frank Gorshin still gets paid to sign things)
- various cover groups
(People dress up like Chewbacca)
- an auction
(Richard Hatch drags on about why his Battlestar is better)
- various competitions like trivia competition, dress competition
(Ted Lange, Bernie Koppell, and Fred Grandy get to wear their dress whites)
- Queen related guests like Peter Freestone, the Queen Archivist, Mike Moran etc
(George Takei comes out of the closet and no one cares)
Interesting, no matter what the subject, a Convention is a Convention.
Bring a date. You'll be the only one there with one.

You should have a Perth convention... in London. I'd come.
I feel I am missing the point of having a Perth convention somewhat, but there you go.

I dunno the idea has merit. I'd probably get more Perth people in London than I would here - honestly, bunch of party poopers down here, haha.
