Ok, if you had to pick the dork out of the bunch...  the guy who's rock & roll stories would be the tamest in the band, who would you pick?

That's right, there's a new Brian May Autobiography** book out.  Has anyone had a chance to pick this up and read it?  I would much rather waste my time reading Freddie's or Roger's.  You probably couldn't put those down.  And John has been such a mystery the whole time, it's be nice to figure out (1) why and (2) why he creeped "Emma" out.

But a Brian May autobiography?  Mr. No Smoking No Drinking No Hurting Animals?  Exciting.

The next book out should have been the Freddie bio.  You could put it right next to Brian's Astronomy book or maybe package the two...  "Bang!" and "I Can Make A Bigger Bang Than That - The Freddie Story".

**  This is a Biography, on further review.  The only contributions from B. Harold May are direct quotes compiled over the years, not something new for this endeavor.

This book is not worth the paper it's printed on. Laura Jackson already wrote a very questionable Freddie Mercury "biography" from which she re-printed whole paragraphs in the Brian book whenever there is a chance. The rest of the book is full of errors, rumours, innuendoes. It does not do justice to Brian May on a single page. Avoid.
I do not want any google ads here.

Is that just a reprinting of the Brian May book or is it a new addition?  I got that a year and a half ago, so it's not that new, unless its a new addition.  But I wasn't sure what to think of it.  I enjoyed it, just some stuff seemed different from what i had thought or learned afterwards, and a lot of it was stuff I had read elsewhere.  But it's beautifully formatted and has nice pictures in it, so I'm glad i got it.  A lot of it is more focused on Queen, rather then Brian, and it was more an overview of Queen and Brian's contribution to Queen, rather then going into how Brian thought about it.  But it's been a while since i read it, maybe I'd change my mind if I read it again.  Are there any other Brian biographies?  Or ones of John or Roger?  And does anyone know if any of the Freddie or Queen books are particularly good?  I got one Freddie bio, and found it really hard to get into, can't remember which one it was.  I keep wanting to get A Life in His Own Words, and not getting around to it.

And a supplimentary album could be released, called Bang Goes the Cosmos.

Thanks for the info.

I was a little suspect of the author's self-imposed "Queen of the Biographers".  SPIN MAGAZINE did not recommend it.  It was on their "Book We Read So You Don't Have To" list.

I'd sooner read Brian's autbiography than that of John Deacon, who's expression while he played with the band was mostly something like, "Well, it's a job. It pays the bills."

Sorry to be a pedant, but it is not an autobiography unless Brian actually wrote it himself. It is merely a biography.

Ah so! I took the originally posted link about an autobiography at face value, but when I just went back and clicked on it I see that it IS a biography. Now the other post about some maligned author makes more sense!

Ah yes, Mr Debauchery, it is indeed a biography.

It sounds like it's a collection of quotes and stories about Brian.  I read a book several years ago by Tim Morse entitled Yes In Their Words, which was exactly that.  Direct quotes from the band members compiled over the years.  There's a similar one that I've read on The Neville Brothers which was super cool. Very detailed and personal.  It actually worked there.  Here?  I'm not so sure.

Yes, i bought that book by Miss Jackson when it came out. Not good at all. She copies a lot of it for her Definitive Biography of Freddie Mercury.

It's okay i suppose if you are new to the band.
