I tell you what I am, Queen are a Great Band throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s however I think the new album is just too 80s influenced, not Queen's Greatest. They Really Should have had a 25 or 30 song album and it could have been great but for goodness sake, Who Wants to Live Forever did'nt chart too well in the UK, so why not use the Best Charting Songs by Queen (though Who Wants to Live Forever is a Good Song it wastes too much space where there are plenty of other great songs). We need more Seven Seas of Rhye ect or if Queenonline are desperate why not only use songs that charted within the Top 15. Yes Queen had plenty of Songs which should have Gone to No.1 or higher than they were but Why Not Queen release Absolute Greatest as 25th Anniversray of Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack or Something. I leave this discussion for you, however Great Queen songs and Big Queen Songs are being left out, this is too much of an 80s Pop Rock Album, no fare share of the different periods in Queen's Career.[/img]

... and it seems Innuendo won´t be included either...
anyway, a limited edition has been announced. Maybe a 2nd disc with something really interesting for the real fans?
who knows ... let´s sit and wait for further details.

No Innuendo? Their third number one isn't on a greatest hits? I know the UK chart isn't everything, maybe other singles are #1 in more other countries, but it's one of their better songs from the second half of their career, so I'm surprised if they don't put it in.
But then, I really don't understand why they're doing another compilation at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if the limited edition disc includes the rest of the Greatest Hits.

First of all, Who Wants To Live Forever?! What happened to top 10 UK hits?! Are you fucking kidding me? Geez, I wonder who is picking the tracklisting on this? Could it be..........Brian? No way! I thought these were supposed to be the Absolute Greatest Hits? It's not that way anymore.
And where are the 70's hits? I wasn't too thrilled that Queen was releasing yet another Greatest Hits album. I did get excited with the competition, but after I see how they dropped the ball on this one, it didn't surprise me being that they can't get anything right anymore.
I counted about 11 or so songs that were top 10 hits in the UK. There are only 6 songs left, so that means that at least 5 are getting left off w/ Who Wants To Live Forever taking one of their places. Here is what I think the ranking for the remaining songs should be:
1 Bohemian Rhapsody
2 Somebody To Love
3 Innuendo
4 I Want To Break Free
5 Heaven For Everyone
6 Seven Seas of Rhye
7 Breakthru
8 Flash
9 You Don't Fool Me
If Brian has his way it will be:
1 Tie Your Mother Down
2 Keep Yourself Alive
3 Too Much Love Will Kill You
4 Hammer To Fall
5 Fat Bottomed Girls
6 It's Late
Bonus Track: Furia

Innuendo is one of the songs being saved for next years "No really, this is the absolute best Queen album".

This album is a compilation of what the band probably see as the 'Greatest' of the singles that have been released.
Nowhere in the title does it state that these are the best selling 'Greatest Hits'.
And just because a single got to number 1,2 or 3 in the charts doesn't mean that it is the greatest.
I'm sure most people would say that a song like 'Forever' is better than something like 'Play The Game' for example, but look at the difference it made in the charts....it bears no resemblance to popularity of that song, but at the time it was judged against what was in the charts by other artists.....does that make sense?
And as for releasing this album....it is about time, there hasn't been a compilation in the UK since 2002.

There's never a good time to try to exploit fans.
Never mind though, it'll be in the bargain bins by Xmas.
Go check out what Pearl Jam have done with their back catalogue, and with their live shows. Then come back here and tell me Queen have a fan-friendly marketing strategy.

Who wants to live forever is the first one that I'm annoyed about!
Someone predicted this on another thread and said that if it happened Roger needed to grow some balls!
You were right!

Ha Ha .... that was me that made the comment about Roger in this thread:
Later in this same topic, I suggested, based on "The Charts" (see below link originally provided by rhyeking), that Body Language would be a better choice than WWTLF.

Without expressing my personal opinion... let's just say this quoted post should not fade into obscurity.

That post really says it all. I hate it when people act as if Queen has no choice in terms of what they release.
'They're a huge band so they have they satisfy many people, and thus their strategy deserves to be defended' (that kind of reasoning). In my view they can easily satisfy both categories of fans and thus are such statements pure bullshit. The simple fact is they do not know what great products they can produce...
Check out what Neil Young is doing with his archives...if he can do it, why not Queen?
To me it feels like Queen has forgotten they're ARTISTS, not a SUPERMARKET.
