Queen FAN ART - proposed book (for charity)

Dear Queen Fans

One of the things I've always enjoyed, over the past 33 years of following Queen, are the odd examples I've seen of Queen 'Fan Art'.  These things never cease to stagger and amaze me. Some have APPALLED me too, of course, but all such efforts amuse and impress generally.
I don't just mean the beautifully crafted stunning pieces that have obviously been created by exceptionally talented individuals, I also mean the simplistic more basic examples too - as drawn, painted, crayoned, by children. I also mean some of the apparently simplistic looking images created by adults. Sometimes less it more, basic works best, keeping it sparse can be hugely effective.
I guess I have amassed 800-900 such things on my computer.  I realise that on this Queenzone site there are probably thousands of examples, but I only tend to download the ones I like most.  Thus... those below are just some of my very favourites. Some of these, below, are incredible and I'd be proud to hang them on my walls at home.
Whether or not you personally like modern art, impressionist art, or pictures of a greatly distorted Freddie, or a characture type creation, or a  more traditional orthodox 'normal' type portrait, is really not the point... personally I just enjoy the widest variation of pictures and different interpretations and renderings - the more outrageous, outlandish, daring, original, challenging, provocative, the better. Though simple is fine as well.
I have proposed to certain persons the possibility of a great big book of Fan Art, covering as many of these wonderful pieces as possible - proceeds to charity, and have had a tentative yes.  Thus I'd really love to start gathering these things now. The best of the best, the creme de creme, as a great man once said.  Not just Freddie pictures, by the way... of course I mean RT, BM and JD too, and Queen collectively... though Freddie art outnumbers the band members by probably 200 to 1.
There are few things more subjective in this world than our individual taste and preferences, and never is this more evident than in art appreciation.  I would therefore like to offer as wide and diverse a cross section of Queen art as is humanly possible. Basic pencil drawings, water colours, oil paintings, charcoal and chalks, pastels, crayons, spray paint, felt tip pens... ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING... as long as it's original and has that 'something' special and extra about it.  Like the examples I'm pointing you towards below.
I also think that some of those computer 'aided' or enhanced/manipulated images are great too. I've seen some fantastic examples of that.  One, featuring John Deacon circa 1975/76, was just staggeringly good.  But I couldn't find it to show you here. I'll search further and try to show you it.  I know such things are not strictly 'created' as such, but they do require people with some talent or vision to 'render' them, in my opinion anyway.
So... please let me know if you'd like to send me your art, or if you know where I might see some.  There are MANY examples on this site that I'd like to feature too. I need those people to contact me - ideally so that I can obtain the original (to photograph it), or to get a high res scan of it.  We cannot use these low res internet scan pics in a book, obviously.
What do you have?  Do you want it to feature in the book?  To be considered for it I mean.
I will put a montage together of my favourites and try to post it here, not least because I need the creators of each piece to get in touch.  Many thanks,  GB.
The book has a working title of SHEER ART ATTACK.

Hi Greg,

it is a nice idea. I´m not that good in painting or drawing but been doing some work on bootleg covers in the last couple of years, including some nice photo collages also featuring some of the artistic effects my software can deliver ... I can do a selection of them (without logos, titles, etc, just the blank "creation"), useful high resolution pics. Should I email them to any particular address? perhaps post ´em in this thread?

cheers

This is just ridiculous. A fan art book for charity....
Another shitty queen related product I'm not going to buy.

How about the I Want It All book Greg?
And what about the Anthology boxsets?

Do your job instead of bullshitting around on Queenzone.
Freddie would have fired you a long time ago...

And if you don't like my negative criticism:
FINE. I don't like you and your queenzone posts either.

Fabulous.

"...odd examples" - you certainly got that one right Greggy Boy.

And yes, why not have a book out there, disguised as a charity thang, featuring ordinary fan's art?  That way, we can all spend more money on something that's of absolutely no value to anyone (other than the percentage that will actually make it to the chosen charity) in real terms.

Also, why NOT have this?  After all, no one needs a GVH3 to complete their set, or, for that matter, a collection of studio or live rarities that have, heretofore, remained unreleased, do they?  After all, having any of these as charity releases wouldn;t do anyone any good at all, would they?

Yep - banging on that old tub again Greggy Boy, but after all, what else is there to talk about in the world of Queen?  Strikes me that there's a single burning issue with hundreds of questions and absolutely no answers.....

But yes, let's have a charity book.  Now, come all ye ne'er do wells.  Bring out ye sheckles and hand them over to The Sherriff Of Queenigham (Beach) for distribution to such worthy causes.  We trust him to do it and do it right.

Not convinced you've thought this one through Greggy

Surely if you want to raise money for a charity something from Queen themselves would be of greater value? can't see many wanting to part with their hard earned cash in these difficult times if it's a collection of art by the fans??

Might be wrong...so just in case if the nurse gives me back my crayons I will rush of a knock something up for you! not in the biblical sense you understand!
