I'm sure someone somewhere has pondered this on the forums, and if so, forgive me for binging it up again.
What would people think if Roger and Brian wrote and recorded an album together, of original material (or mostly original, as both aren't afraid to record covers of their favourite songs), with maybe Spike Edney and Jamie Moses backing them up (or not, the two could both sing and play every instrument)?
What sort of cross-section of songs do you think we'd get? What do you think they'd sound like: The Cross, Back To The Light, Electric Fire, The Cosmos Rocks?

I'd hope they would sound different to all of it.
The thing about Queen and it's members is that the music they have produced over the years has always been different to the last, and I would hope that would continue till they retire. A point many people seem to have forgotten on their appraisals of TCR.
I would of course love to see a new album by the two, and ANY guests they deem worthy - Paul Rodgers, even that Adam Lambert dude - IF they decide to leave the Queen name behind now (except if it is a straightforward follow up to TCR whereby the name Q+PR should of course stick).
I would just love to hear the beautiful tone of the RS again with new tunes - even though TCR was such a wonderful present after so many years without new work.

I'd like something a bit like "On An Island". That's just me obviously.

"on an island" is one of the most incredible, rich, smooth and beatiful albums of the last time...
I would be great...

I agree with Zebonka as well, actually. I would love to hear Brian and Roger make something like that. It's a fantastic record!

I'm sure I'd love any records Brian and Roger would make together as I liked their solo work...I'd hope they would do their own thing instead of trying to make something that they thought their fans or the general public wanted...just go out there and make some music!!
...as for guest vocals? hope they would have someone good if not doing it themselves...I thought Paul Rodgers was a great choice...Jeff Scott Soto is great too.....I really didn't like the female vocal on Invincible Hope....yikes
...think they may benefit from a proper bass player too

I can't speak for famous recording artists, but I have to say that being almost 'expected' to use someone else as a singer when you want to make something (or even cover someone else) is an incredible pressure. Even at the low, low level that I do things (making collab videos with my brother in Japan, for instance) whenever I start to work on something for myself my family immediately butt in and say 'wow you should do this song with Paul'.

I'd hate to be in Brian and Roger's position to be honest. I don't know if they even realise how good they are at singing, with all these suggestions to get someone else!
If they continue as Queen (I hope they don't) they should sing the songs themselves in the studio. They have fine voices, but Neither are good for a whole album..... Brian sings his own ballads (can't sing the heavy stuff) and roger sings his own stuff. I Think roger is a pretty good singer IMO. The tour is another story. I think they need a better singer for the tour.

Hi, Mike. I love Brian's "heavy" vocal moment in the middle of "Marie's the name (of his latest flame)", the demo he recorded with Cozy Powell. I am not quite sure of the exact title of the demo, it is an Elvis cover. I think he can do a great job on the heavy vocal side, but he is too much a perfectionist to relax and do it on a proper recording. That said, Roger is still the best choice for heavy stuff between them.
Cheers,

I think if they find someone with a bit of passion, sure. Put simply, if they ever go out with another singer I hope he's miles better than Paul Rodgers. No, I don't mean 'more stamina than Freddie' or 'someone who could hit all the notes that Freddie couldn't on stage', because Rodgers could do that. He was also as dull as whale dick. Put someone up there who'll give it a real kick; to hell with the outcome!

They just need to revive their passion and they wouldn't need anybody else.

If they recorded together, I think it'd be a great thing. I'm positive that they can't do anything worse than TCR, unless they want to - it'd take some genius to fail to meet even TCR's standards. So I'm eagerly waiting them to release new material: whatever the singer is, bring him/her on. Brian could do all the singing as far as my taste is concerned. Should they want to work with the talented young guy there, I think the output would be quite interesting - maybe the possibility of writing songs for a singer they relate to and are impressed by spurs them to craft some good songs.
I have no idea about how it would sound, but I do want it to sound - I'd love to see the guys again and listen to their new stuff.

Hey Yara, have you also joined the "I hate TCR" club ? :)

No. This is a rival club. I created another one: "I didn't like TCR, but I'd love them to keep releasing new material and I don't think they are traitors or deserve to die for using the Queen name" club. As it turns out with most of too specialized clubs, it hasn't been fairing very well. The club has only myself as a member, which speaks volumes about the club itself. : -))
Mine is more constructive than the "I hate TCR" - I subscribe to Freddie's philosophy that if an album doesn't have a larger appeal or turns out to be bad, that's no reason to call it quits - it's all about trying again and working hard on a project. After the "Hot Space" thing, one could think: "It's over". But then it progressively got better - the works, then a kind of magic, the miracle and, finally, Innuendo, one of the best in the catalogue.
