Brian should rename his box 'Brians Shit Box' ie. lets tell the plebs something that will keep them interested for the next 6 worthless months of their lives until we release greatest hits again (called megahits this time!)[/QUOTE]
That's like a review of a Spinal tap album -- 'Shit Sandwich' -- Brians' Shit Box. I like it,

They can even make it a double dvd release - Earls 77 on one disc, Hammy 75 on another with the extras and the comments and the interviews!!!

What and miss out on potential sales and another 'early November' release?  Hardly likely with QP and their dated business logic.

Totally agree with what others have said, it's v badly filmed and if no other versions exist then it should remain condemned to Queen's video vaults.

Also, old father time is catching up with some of the 70s concerts.  As each year passes the more dated and more naf some of them look. (same with the 80s!)
Like everything else, they only have a certain 'shelf date'.

Old fans like me who were around in the 70s and 80s are not getting any younger!

They had and missed their chance with 'DVD boom' in the early 2000s.

I disagree. People don't expect 70s concerts to be of the same visual quality as today's shows, any more tha they expect wedding videos or photos from that era to be perfect. They are historical documents, and have sentimental and artistic merit. That's their selling point, not the technical quality. Earl's Court is filmed reasonably well. I'd much rather the camera stayed on Brian for a minute than have the DoRo twins cut from scene to scene every half second.

Why ? I like the "chaotic" way how it's filmed. The recording obviously didn't have a director, but this really feels "live" if you know what I mean.

Do you mean the quality of the recording or the quality of the performance ?

The same goes for the fans from the 80s and the 90s :)

Both in some cases, although some performances were obviously good, it's just the era looks so dated, the  lighting, the outfits, TV system (SD 4:3), the camera techniques, filters etc etc all look so dated now.

Some of he 80s concerts just about hold up. (for now).

All it is is pure nostalgia.

QP should be concentrating on newer technologies more, with the music rather than visuals as regards their back catalog stuff. Instead of just 'testing the waters' and dabbling with it, they should have done a lot more with DVDA/SACD and now Blu Ray music.  'Re-masterd' CD single boxsests do not count.

I agree with KevoFM about how QPL should have pulled their fingers out with DVDA & Blu Ray, but personally i think 70's PAL SD filmed on 2" video tape hasn't been beaten for quality yet. Sure, HD is a nice clear picture and obviously twice the resolution (or more?), but the colours and the interlaced look of 2" videotape is beaiutiful and sorely missed.

I am running out of life and there is still much unpublished material. What exactly is Queen trying to accomplish by keeping the archives under a lock and key? Release the thing in stereo. it does not have to be in the blue-ray UFO technology format. In the end, I am preaching to the choir...
