As I’m writing an article about the „Freddie Mercury Tribute“ in comparison with the upcoming „Michael Jackson Tribute“, I’d like to ask if anybody knows, whether there was a standardised ticket-price of 25 Pounds or whether there was a difference between seating and standing.
Thanks in advance for your answer. (And thanks to Mr. Scully for help)

I think it was general admission - ie you paid £25 and you could stand on the pitch or take a seat, whichever you preferred (I stood). Obviously there must have been corporate packages and boxes available for more money, but I'm not sure what the range was for those.
That concert is still, to me, one of the greatest gatherings of talent for one of these 'charity' gigs there has been - virtually all the acts were at the top of the charts / top of their game at that point, and I think they would struggle to get such big names together on one bill again now. All the Live Earth, Live 8 etc.. gigs are crammed with very poor and average acts, some of which are hopeless live, but are put there by their record company simply to get exposure.
Can you imagine anyone having success with putting a bill together now with;
U2 (albeit they were by video link)
Metallica
David Bowie
George Michael
Roger Daltrey
Robert Plant
Queen
Liza Minnelli
Guns n Roses
Elizabeth Taylor
etc...
Hope this helps.

Elizabeth Taylor wasa complete fucking embarassment. It was like having my Gran on stage saying "Don't fuck anyone unless you stick a jacket on your cock." Completely the WRONG envirionment for that speech to have been made - perhaps better placed at the start of the day, but you can bet your life she was the one who pushed for that time slot.
Awesome day - Metallica simply tore the place apart and Daltrey / Plant the undisputed highlights of the show. George Michael was pretty good, but it was kind of safe material for him to sing as it's guaranteed sing-along stuff.

I love that speech. She looks drunk, I think I've heard "Get of the fucking stage" several times during her speech ...

I think you do George Michael a diservice. Other than the girls in the musical (and Fred of course) I don't think I've heard a better performance of Somebody To Love. Having seen GM live since, he does have a great voice, and he did a great live show even if it's not my favourite type of show.

The U2 video link was a bit of a disappointment was it not. Not on the DVD but I can remember watching it at the time - wasn't it just a bit of 'live' footage? Would have been much better to have had a real live link and for Bono and the boys to have put in a bit of effort to have done a cover version - now what would that have been?

It is wise to be objective...and not let taste dictate critisism.

Benn..... I am sorry, but Robert Plant a highlight of the day???........ I assume you are highlighting his total cock up on Innudendo?...... did you see the show live? or have you just watched the Official DVD version?

The idea of Robert Plant's presence was great for sure.
I loved Thank You becoming Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
But Innuendo.... I just watched it on youtube, and don't know what to think... Was it a bad record what I saw? Because I hardly could hear a couple of lines and not more from him. It is pity watching him struggling with microphone. But I felt proud for May and Taylor- they did they job quite good. And even so it would be great to see Queen with Plant...

Robert Plant forgot the words so the song was ruined.....there wasn't any technical problem with his microphone.

My goodness! Is that true? Couldn't he think up something? Or improvise? Or write the lyrics on his hand? It worked for Freddie in Budapest. I even haven't thought about such reason!
