I was thinking of providing some links to some ipod files I created.
I wasn't sure if there would be any interest or if it would upset anyone.
I am pleased with the results on my ipod, the first attempt was Japan 79 which is 33 mins approx and 177mb (320x240 pixels) The lip sync seems to be spot on.
The files have been slightly edited by me to improve viewing.
Any comments welcome, I was going to attempt some 640 X 480 conversions, so any help on what freeware may do the job would be of assistance.

kurgan100, it will be awesome! I surelly will enjoy it ;) I think a lot of people will too !
I use a program called "free ipod video converter V2.6" to convert mpeg files to mp4. For me it works well !

Thanks for the pointer, it's similar to the program that I used (DVDtoipod) but only allows 320x240 conversions.
I'll pm you the link to my Japan '79 upload so you can try it out.
Thanks for the positive feedback

I now have some software that can create 640x480 H.264 encoded mp4, these will look much better if you connect your ipod to a TV. You will need one of the newer generation ipods that can cope with this resolution though, all I can confirm is they work ok on my 120gb classic. For reference, viewing purely on an ipod 320x240 is perfectly adequate.

this stuffs exellent! its amazing nobody has thought of this before
You are welcome. I also experimented with some 640x480 conversions from laserdisc.
Rio and Budapest look fantastic but of course I cannot share these. I also downloaded Muse at reading 2006 (widescreen) in XVID and converted, again looks and sounds fab. All I can say is that it's worth converting your favourite dvds for your ipod. It's wonderful to be able to watch these concerts whilst on the move, and with the higher resolution they will look pretty good when connected to a TV wherever you may go. An AV lead can cost you under £2 inc delivery on ebay.
All this info applies to my 6th Gen 120GB Classic, not sure what other generations will work. Good luck, maybe some one else can do some more and post the links.[/img]
