Not au-fait with all the up-to-date stuff but what was the 2001 Re-Master???
Is it worth buying? Does it sound better? Is it like the Hollywood disasterous snare thing?

This isn't a 2008 remaster, but the Japanese 2001 remaster, reissued.

It seems that EMI reissued the 2001 mini vinyl's in 2008.

Maybe not necessarily the mini-vinyls specifically, but they did reissue the whole catalogue for a limited time around when TCR came out.

I'm pretty sure they were still the mini vinyl's with the 2001 remaster.

I haven't picked any up, as they are fairly pricey. Now the 2001 remasters are approaching 10 years old, I'm hoping there will be new remasters in the next couple of years or so!

As I understand it, Queen's contract with EMI expires in 2010. If they decided to sign with a new label, new remasters/reissues would be a certainty

Well I hope those bloody rumours are true. I've also heard that is the exact reason they've been holding out on some products like the fabled rarities boxsets and so forth, and why they're issuing Absolute Greatest (to fill a certain release quota) to fulfill their terms. A lot of artists, including Paul McCartney, have been leaving EMI because of the new owners/managers of that company that came into place within the last few years.
