When I 'm surrounded by many kinds of today's music, I feel I miss you and feel like listening to you all the more.
That makes me realize your music is the only one which can always wipe my tears away, encourage me and make me happy.
Thank you for everything you left for all of us.
Love you always...

RIP Freddie, you are sadly missed, and warmly remembered.
You made me happy and sad all at once.  That song serves as a wonderful focus for the kinds of feelings people have related to loss, and it's very special one for Queen fans as it relates to Freddie.  I felt very fortunate late this summer to be able to give it to my teenaged son when our family had a tragic and unexpected loss when his half brother lost his life to an accidental drowning at just 21.  The lyrics and feel of the song were perfect for the situation, for their relationship and for the circumstances of his life and death.  I know it has helped my son as he works to heal. Music speaks a thousand words, particularly when none are right and all are inadequate.  Even though the boy was not my own son, I grew to care for him very, very much over the years. As a last concrete act of love, I left my ANATO CD with him, tucked in with all the other things left by others to say goodbye and send him on his way.  Understanding my passion for music generally and Queen particularly, my son understood exactly what I was trying to express.  The moment that encompassed that simple act helped us communicate with each other at a terrible time better than an hour of talking ever could have.

Anyway, back to Freddie. :)  I'm eternally grateful for his gifts, the stunning wealth of brilliant sights and sounds he left for us all, and for all the efforts of the rest of Queen over these 18 years to preserve his memory and his music each in their own way.  Much love.

18 years ago , crikey. i can still remember every hour of the next day (the monday), right from my radio alarm going off at 2 minutes to 7 and the local radio station news breaking the news,.  to elton introducing the late night bbc tribute.i was struck dumb, lying there in bed, the man who, far and away, had made the most incredible impression on my life was no more.
i think for most of '91, most of us did'nt dare imagine the worst, hoping that perhaps the rumours and conjecture were'nt true or perhaps he would recover. and then the sunday papers carrying the official statement which finally confirmed everyones worst fears-but nothing could of prepared us for the news the next morning, coming so soon after the statement.
but anyway, we can all console ourselves in the fact that freddie was truly the best  and his star still shines as bright today.  we have all the music and the films to remember him by and us queen fans can feel proud that our freddie, was the best of the lot !

That was exceptionally nice.  I stopped a hockey game to listen to the rest of it.  That's a really big deal in my world. :)
