I really want a bass so I could practice at home and have my very own cherished instrument ^^
I really am tired of playing with the bass at school only to realize it's not my own and I can't take it home :(
Christmas is coming up (hopefully a good one for my family this year) and I really want my dad to buy me one, since I don't have my own money yet. That's the only gift I really want.

I'm searching for websites that sell used instruments but they still turn out to be expensive and my dad doesn't have that kind of money.
Can anyone help me search for a good site?

Just steal the Bass from School when nobody is looking, and you may as well grab an amp too your going to need one.

Or you can try building one from pieces of the old fire-place. That's not totally unheard of. All you need is a little help from your father, and who knows, you may become a member of the greatest rock band of your times.

They're too expensive?  No, that's just not true.  Be glad you picked one of the easiest (financially) instruments to own.

Just go get an 4 string American Fender Precision bass.

If you plan on getting serious about playing bass, eventually you will need this in your arsenal.  There is no substitute.

You could go get a sparkly Ibanez one for cheap.  But after you've gutted the pickups and still can't get a decent tone, you'll understand.

You could go get one that is black and jagged and looks evil, but then you'd realize a couple of months later it still sounds like shit.

You could go get a Musicman and play that funky music, but you'd still need the P-Bass to play rock or jazz.

About $400 used, and it'll always be worth that.  Ask your Dad about his IRA portfolio losses in the last couple of years, and then let him know about the rock-solid Fender P Bass.

I second the vote for Fender Precision.   Mine is a mainstay and I'm not even a bass player!
