Could someone help?

Hi! just got an assignment at school, it's too write a paper on something that interests you. I thought I could write about Queen! It's suppose to be on 3-5 pages and I was just wondering if someone might be kind enough to help me get started. It's suppose to be an article.
Please! any help would be appreciated

I think you are about to get inundated with things like 'Once apon a time'

However resisting the urge to do that, why don't you write about what makes them interesting to YOU
Why are you on a Queen forum? why not Mika or Abba or Lily Allen?  why Queen?

Start by writing of their recent success in the charts with ABSOLUTE GREATEST and how they're back in the UK/World charts (no 3 uk)... shows that a new generation of fan may be interested in them? Maybe take it from the perspective of you being a "new" fan and how you or people at your school found out about Queen... was it recent X-Factor appearance, the above album...

Maybe mention their career briefly, how long it's lasted and how EVEN after their lead singer died they still remain in the media and in the public eye?

You have many things you can talk about... recent tour with Paul Rodgers, We Will Rock You musical's worldwide success, to smaller things like Roger Taylor releasing a new single (unblinking eye). Freddie plaque in London (feltham). Again... absolute greatest hits, x-factor, american idol... all very recent.

If it's to be an article, I'm guessing it's a journalism style project, so I would show how they have use their latest media "event/stunt" i.e X-Factor to start and work backwards.

What happened to the days when we researched something on our own?  I miss that...

Google and find out some info.  Go to your library and pick up some books on rock music (do libraries still exist to today's generation of kids?).  Maybe you'll even find another band more interesting, and you'll end up getting a better paper out of it.

hi, don´t worry if some old fans are a little bit nasty. queen is not a band like other bands , and queen fans are not
like other fans ( blond and stupid george michael or robbie wiliams fans) queen fans are crazy and nasty.
if you wanna know something about queen, forget greatest hit, take a little bit time and youtube and watch
the old concert live like hammersmith 75 or rainbow 74 or hydepark 76 . maybe you find out that queen is more than we will rock you . it´s classic walz boggie funk rock´n roll ballads hardrock and more. good luck

It has nothing to do with being old, grumpy and nasty.

It is a fact that both schools and exams have been dumbed down, and that today's youth are like little fledglings awaiting for all knowledge to come from someone else's hard work.

If [b]you[/b] want to write a paper on Queen (after all [b]you[/b] chose it)  - then [b]you[/b] write it.
Do your [b]own[/b] research. Google, use a library, watch "Magic Years" or "Queen: Phenominon".

PS; A recent local newspaper featured a 17 year old lad who had written: "Exams now-a-days were just as difficult as they had ever been, and how hard he had to study to gain his certificates".
When some reader replied that he was not in a position to write the article (as he had not sat both types of exams to compare), this sparked local debate.
Finally, they looked out some exam papers from 1989 (only 20 years ago) and asked the same student and his classmates to sit the older exams. (English and Mathematics).
Amazingly the class of 2009 all [b]failed[/b].
The reason being was that they did not have the same breadth of knowledge or understanding, lacked essential problem-solving skills, and furthermore both spelling and grammar were borderline poor to say the least.

Now while I accept this evidence may be anecdotal at best, I think it still demonstrates that in our present age of a bombardment of information, we, as a society seem to have lost the ability to think for ourselves, and are far too reliant upon "Wikipedia" and other easy answers.

I agree John, but given the same resources back then it may have been a different situation. For me at school or at university the internet wasn't an option, so the graft had to be done using textbooks,  libraries, case notes etc but had I had the same resources students have these days I'm positive I'd be using them. Kids are being taught remember with computers in class rooms, and being encouraged to use the newest mediums for help. Information is far easier to get hold of nowadays. Plus, in all fairness, the kid only asked serious Queen fans for their opinion , he didn't ask anyone to write it. Thus, he used US as a source, maybe the way we would have used an author in a book or went to a specialist in the subject area.

I do agree, that their is a laziness that wasn't even there 15 years ago, and it'll probably get worse... but society has dictated that and the kids have to go with the flow. But, there isn't any point in saying they have it easier than older generations. They're on the same playing field as one another, just as we were back then.

Thats fair enough van basten but there is using the internet to do research and there is going to a fan site and asking people what to write. Its lazy and ultimitely unfulfilling.

Once upon a time, a couple of middle-eastern descent were desperately trying to conceive a child.  It had been a few years since they had joined a group of religious hippies on a drug induced stupor, but the good news had finally arrived.  The Lord had blessed them with a child.  Within weeks, they were already experiencing problems.  Upon their latest trip to the OBGYN, they were shackled with their first bit of difficult news.

The ultrasound came in clear.  Ten fingers, ten toes.  Incredibly large molars.  But what appeared to be a healthy baby boy hid a terrible secret.  The evidence was clear.  When the doctor told them they were going to have a gay baby, they didn't know how to handle the news.

"How gay?" asked the father.

The doctor proceeded to show them a movie poster from My Fair Lady.  "That gay", he replied.
