This is an embedded Adobe Flash File.
Is there anyway to save it into a folder on my desktop?

Try to right-click this link :  http://ssa.nls.uk/assets/flvplayer/player.swf and select "save as..."

But absolutely no guarantees :(

If it fails, try the Firefox addon "VideoDownloadHelper"

Nope, for download we must find where they put that 74959865.flv file, but sadly I have no idea.

You just need to find some capture software. Google is your friend.

I've been wanting to do something similar for quite some time now. Ripping from Youtube is a breeze but from other sites it is not.

Now in this particular case, the file is embedded with JW Flash Video Player. On the JW website they say "The JW Player™ works out-of-the-box with Wowza's token system so you can keep grubby mitts off your videos." SO probably they have some sort of encryption which prevents capturing of the clip. We could try to find out what Wowza is about....

OK done : )
Replay Media Catcher did it.

I tried uploading to the post itself but it did not move past 0% so had to resort to rapidshare.

Can someone tell me what "Gruby Mitts" means? What exactly does the phrase "keeping your grubby mitts off something" mean? I think I have the wrong idea about this term.

Yes - 'Replay Media Catcher' works fine thank you.

Better still, under one of the tabs, (Tools - converter) it will convert the file to WMA or any other recognised AVI standard, so the converted file will work in Powerpoint or any other media program.

Your 'mitts' are you hands. (More specifically - your fingers).
The term comes from the abbreviated form of mittens - or the fingerless mittens used during the Victorian era.
(Also popularised by fictional characters such a Dicken's Fagan and Lara Croft).

These mittens (rather than full gloves) would keep the hand warm, but still keep the dexterity of the fingers for delicate work such as counting money or engraving metals.

The phrase basically translates as 'keep your grubby fingers off my property' (which is also an allusion to theft).
