I preferred them in the seventies. They were'nt bad.But now they are washed up.
Anyway,Mooghead is right. What is a thread about them doing here.

RE: Who wants to see those has-beens anyway.
More people than who wanted to see Queen.
A fair point, but then again for many many people, Fred was Queen and so QPR means very little now. Whereas Kiss is a band doing disposable generic cliched rock and the band members are interchangable make-up artists with very little talent. Lose one and the Kiss brand doesn't lose much impact (for fans who are easily pleased by simple 3-chord "rawk", make up and flash bombs). In fact, when all the original Kiss members are dead, I can still see the Kiss product on tour, with new members wearling the make up and spandex, producing the same generic, cliched, corporate rubbish. Kiss are the Menudo of rock.
It was Freddie who stated that Queen's music was disposable. Queen had cliched generic rock material. I guess
you forgot about that.
RE: talent
When Brian and Roger needed a drummer to help them out they asked Eric Singer, KISS' drummer.
Paul Stanley is one of the greatest rock front men, singers, and rock songwriters. Plus he's done it
far longer than Freddie.
You don't sell over 100 million cds and play to millions each year if you don't have talent. If you knew anything
about music you'd know that.
Freddie wasn't Queen. Queen was Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. It's evident you
don't know that either.
RE: "3-chord rawk"
When you can play "God Gave Rock And Roll To You", "Unholy", "I Walk Alone", "Jungle", etc., we'll talk about
"3-chord rawk". Just another topic you're not qualified to talk about.
Do you know why KISS didn't open up for Queen in the early '70s? Queen wouldn't let them, because they
knew that KISS would wipe them off of the stage. Same reason why Mott The Hoople wouldn't let KISS open
for them.

>>also "god gave rock and roll to you" was a cover...
The verses were rewritten by Paul, Gene, and Bob Ezrin. Bruce Kulick's
guitar playing on the song is far more complex than what was on
Argent's version.
>>and brian only asked Eric singer because the right man for the job was dead ...
It's obvious you know shit about this subject. Brian May asked his friend
Tony Iommi if he knew any great drummers and Iommi said Eric Singer.
Iommi would know because Eric played in Black Sabbath.

He sounded great at the two concerts I saw this year.
Freddie was past his peak by 1986. His range wasn't as high and his voice was
much raspier. Listen to "Live At Wembley" to hear this.

And what number is this current great hits cd from Queen?
Queen's a brand just like every other rock band.

That's right KISS is an institution. They're the American band with the most RIAA gold records.
They broke The Beatles' attendance record at the Budokan in Japan. They had 4 lps in the top
100 during the '70s. They're the only band to have released a solo lp by each of the band on the
same day. They've been a huge musical influence to many rock, hard rock, heavy metal and
even pop and country bands. Their stage shows have been a huge influence on rock, pop, and country bands.
>>kiss blowing Queen off stage??? i am realistic to only like around 60% of Queens music, they wrote some stinkers, but kiss would never blow them from stage.
KISS blew Queen of of the stage at the VH1 Rock Honors show. It's a fact that in '74 Queen wouldn't let KISS
open for them. They knew that after KISS played they would look really lame.
Queen with their best stage production paled in comparision to what KISS brought to the concert
scene.
>> 350000 people would see Queen and freddie didnt even turn up,
You mean the free concert in the Ukraine?
KISS played to 200,000 paying customers in Rio de Janeiro in 1983.
Just KISS and a local opening band. It wasn't the Rock In Rio festival
which Queen played at.
>>the same cannot be said of Kiss with their front guys ....
People worldwide know who KISS is. People know who
Gene Simmons is due to KISS and GS Family Jewels.

Miley Cyrus won't have a 38+ year career in the music industry.
Miley Cyrus won't be remembered for influencing people
to pick up a musical instrument and starting a rock band.
Miley Cryus has played "Rock And Roll All Nite" in concert.
End of story.

The foreign appeal of Kiss/Menudo outside their home country is analgous to the appeal Jerry Lewis has in France, or the Teletubbies have around the world -- strong visual identity (but lacking in any substance, and possibly due to severe cultural misunderstanding), slapstick comedy, and lowest common denominator music. Kiss/Menudo are Showaaddywaady with better management and PR. And what's with the make-up anyway? It looks like it's been put on with Homer Simpson's perfume shotgun.

Sure, they played a few more nights. But back in the mid-60s, it wasn't commonplace to book 4 or 5 consecutive nights at the same venue. Tour booking was still in its infancy then. That, and the population of Tokyo increased by a couple million people between 1966 and 1978. But in retrospect, The Beatles could have booked 50 nights in 1966 and they would have sold them all out.
To break any record by The Beatles is merely a feat of numbers (as such, Brian and Roger have downplayed Queen's overtaking of The Beatles in the UK album charts). No band will ever be bigger than The Beatles. Cultural impact cannot be measured in numbers.
Freddie was past his peak by 1986. His range wasn't as high and his voice was much raspier. Listen to "Live At Wembley" to hear this.
It was probably the worst night of the tour for him (I've heard just about every show to prove it). The Budapest video from two weeks later reveals him in superb voice once again. Furthermore, the following year he recorded Barcelona, which some may argue is his finest work vocally.
They had 4 lps in the top 100 during the '70s.
Fair enough. But the fact that Queen didn't feel the need for gimmicks to the extent that Kiss did doesn't automatically make Kiss the better live band. Queen relied on the quality of the music to do most of the talking. Consider this possibility - would Kiss have been a great live band without the gimmicks?
Before this gets ridiculous, let's all remember that music isn't a competition. They were both great bands, both have huge legacies, and both have influenced the evolution of music greatly. We have politics and religion to divide us. Music should be one of those few things that still unites us.

The thing is The Beatles didn't sell out 50 nights. KISS sold out more shows at the Budokan than The Beatles
did. Nothing will change that.
KISS has played to more people in more countries than The Beatles did.
>>To break any record by The Beatles is merely a feat of numbers (as such, Brian and Roger have downplayed Queen's overtaking of The Beatles in the UK album charts). No band will ever be bigger than The Beatles. Cultural impact cannot be measured in numbers.
Wrong. Brian and Roger have mentioned how proud they are for selling more cds in the U.K. than The Beatles.

Nope. Due to Freddie's vocal nodes, smoking, alcohol use, cocaine use, and the fact that he was HIV + are
evident in Freddie's voice. He lost the range that he had in the '70s and his voice had become raspier.
They had 4 lps in the top 100 during the '70s.
Having 4 lps in the top 100 in the U.S. trumps 9 lps in Argentina.

KISS "Unplugged". IMO, the best thing they ever did. Had nothing to do with makeup, costumes, or bombs.
Considering the fact that Freddie wanted to ride over the audience on a huge cock and balls during the '86
tour shows how they wanted to be more theatrical, but didn't put their money or creativity into play (not
that anyone needed to see Freddie riding anything in concert).
>>Before this gets ridiculous, let's all remember that music isn't a competition. They were both great bands, both have huge legacies, and both have influenced the evolution of music greatly. We have politics and religion to divide us. Music should be one of those few things that still unites us.
I agree.
KISS is my favorite band. Queen is my second favorite band.
Since Queen is no longer doing it, go see KISS on their Sonic Boom Over Europe tour in 2010.

Paul Stanley played the role of the Phantom in "Phantom Of The Opera" in Toronto. He was asked back to
finish out the 10 year run. The guy can sing. You don't like him. That's not my problem. It's evident you
know nothing about vocal talent.
"horizing" ???
Try using a dictionary next time.
And yes, Freddie was in vocal decline in the '80s. He fucked up his voice by smoking, drinking, and doing
coke. Being HIV+ didn't help either.
