You can use Windows Movie Maker and do whatever it is you need to do to the song and sync it to an MP3 player. It should automatically convert itself to an audio file.

I edited a couple of songs myself doing it that way.

LOL, I did it because I wanted to cut out the Flamenco guitar sounds in Innuendo, and I cut out the intros for some other songs that took too long to start. I'm going to cut just a bit from The Prophet's Song middle section that seems to slow the song down a bit. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of those parts, but they are just too long! It's incredibly easy. Download any audio editor, for start the free Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audacity ). The rest is really a "cut and paste" work

I also use Audacity for simple editing work.

I have a question about this program: If I import and export an mp3, without cutting, I loose about 25% of the file-size.
My hearing is not so good that I can hear any difference. Still I don't like the idea that get a lower quality in return.
How can I prevent this?

just check the preferences. let's say you import a track @256, but you export (by default) @192 - there you go.
on the way since jazz ...
