I remember seeing the trailer thinking that this might be way too over the top, and would turn out to be cheesy in the end.
Yet it's an amazing movie, and it sure was worth 12 years to wait for.

its being tipped to clean up at this years Oscars.
dont know if im gonna be able to get around to seeing at a cinema [considering my location] but it does look good on the tv trailers i've seen.
Cameron does know how to push the boundaries when it comes to special FX,much like he did with Terminator and Abyss

If you're gonna watch it, make sure its in 3D because I'm not sure if it will impress you a lot if you watch it 0n a regular screen (I watched it in 3D IMAX dome).
The story line is not anything very unique, but the makers have created a whole world from scratch taking into account every single small detail. The most impressive part, which is also the "never before" experience, is the special effects. There are scenes when jelly-fish like things float all over the screen, and there were occasions when I felt like the jelly-fish came floating from behind me.
I'm sure everyone who's watched the movie will agree that the floating-in-space right in the beginning was incredible.

9-foot tall blue Jamaican cat sex.
That being said, I really enjoyed the entire movie. Though it raised a lot of questions that went unanswered, but oh well.
See it in 3D and just relax and enjoy it, even if it is extremely long.

Forget Avatar. Toy Story is the best cartoon.
Doesn't pretend to be something it isn't either.

This was an OK movie.
Far too political for me to enjoy, though. And way too long.
We are the invading army, much as the US is currently in the middle east.
The tree coming down is the World Trade Towers.
There's even a nice Save The Rainforest campaign.
The only thing this movie does do is confirm the hotness of Zoe Saldana, but we already knew that.

If what you're saying is true than this movie is about how we invaded Iraq and blew up OUR OWN towers.. In Iraq?
What if it isn't? What if it's just about some dick-holes who blow up a tree full of blue Jamaican cats?
You're just fun-sucking now.

^ Dude, you're talking with a republican... you'll get a nice answer about that.
I haven't seen it yet, I'm gonna check it next week on 3D most probably

There's some interesting parallels to Hayao Miyazaki's 'Nausicaa - Valley of the Wind' (Anime fans will know what I'm talking about), but the storylines are still completely different.

It's likely to disappoint me or be a pleasant surprise, depending on my mood. I'm not averse to the idea of it being a hugely expensive Fern Gully ripoff, but I'll sure miss Tim Curry...

agreed the special effects were the most amazing thing about the movie...the story is just so much apologetics for pantheism, tho the political subtext about attacking natives over natural resources is timely-- about as timely as Titanic's "class warfare on a sinking ship" bit. Sigourney Weaver was great and the depiction of a soldier using a wheelchair was pretty strong. imho Moon and District-9 were light years by far better science fiction in 2k9. and after some thought, *TRON*
did everything mo better than The Matrix, Avatar, etc anyway, even with the tech available in 1982
