sadly, yes Jim passed away yesterday, but it WAS NOT Aids or HIV related. RIP Jim xxx

You mean that he had HIV and/or AIDS for almost 20 years, but then got killed in a car-accident or something? I doubt it...

Have you any proof to back this up?

Friends of Jim shared yesterday that his death was from lung cancer. While lung cancer is not an AIDS defining illness like others, the rates of lung cancer for HIV/AIDS patients (who are also more likely to be smokers than the general population - 80% vs. 30%) are quoted as being from 2 to 7 times higher, and the prognosis can be poorer. So, it may have been related to his long term battle with HIV, and it may not have been. Either way, I hope his last weeks were comfortable and full of family and friends and peace.

Dr May has just updated his web commenting on the matter

And lovely words they were. Brian is so gifted at communicating just the right tone and feeling, with such gentle precision. At least when the subjects have two legs and not four.

He comunicates very well as well when he's talking about animals.
It was indeed lovely what he said about Jim (and he actually used the word "lovely" twice to refer to him).

I suppose that's true if one is partial to crazy talk. I noticed your avatar, and want to be clear that I don't mean to disparage the cause or the truth of animal rights. Just the crazy talk. But I guess that's enough about that on a thread meant to honour Jim. I apologize if anybody felt this inappropriate. I'd be glad to take it up further if you'd like on another thread.

I thought people were just joking around when I heard about this. Always sad to hear news like this. It just goes to show that times are changing.

I just heard the news about Jim at Brian May's homepage - truly sad news.
I read Jim's book this summer for the first time and whatever else can be said about it, I was impressed about how much love to Freddie was in every word. Thanks to Jim for sharing your memories with us!
I'm far too young to have realized what happened when Freddie died, but when I noticed Jim's death now, it was shocking for me that a man who fought against HIV / AIDS so long has now died (although Jim's death doesn't seem to be AIDS- related) ...it just reminds me of the fact that AIDS is still killing thousands of people out there.
Thanks to Brian for the warm words about Jim!
At least there's a comforting thought, as one of you have already said: Jim is now united with Freddie again forever. RIP Jim!

Sorry to bring up this topic again, but still, not many Freddie fans know Jim died.

If not aids related then he will be the only person in the world that had aids and died for cancer no, no is cancer aids related or he just was a friend of Mercury the gardener.
