Imitations of the WWRY beat were often used in other songs (covers, mash-ups, re-mixes), advertisements, etc.
One of the best (non) cover-songs with the same beat is, in my opinion, 1993's Lenny And Terence by Carter The Unstopable Sex Machine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOZitD7T0Sc
Long ago I read somewhere that Brian/Queen doesn't own any rights for this beat, because it already existed before he composed WWRY.
My question is: Does any of you know a song, from before 1977, with the same stomp-stomp-clap beat? A song that could have inspired Brian?

The stomp stomp clap bit comes from what football fans in the UK used to to in the seventies when they were cheering on their teams.
Brian, down throughout the years, has often said that he wanted this song to sound like a football fans chant like"We are gonna beat you".This song, being in answer to Freddie's "We Are The Champions", which was a winners song

Not only the beat is the same, but the melody during the chorus is also quite similar.
