Interesting post, thank you very much!
Strange to see that it took them so long to get to Italy.
I always thought, that they have not done too much touring, some tours were really short.

"First visit to what at the time was Yugoslavia."
I really doubt that.

Can you tell me why?

Thanks for putting this together. I was thinking the other day that Queen had it relatively easy for touring compared to what top bands go through today.
Their most extensive tour was 81 concerts with many in the 60-70 range. That's a lot, but top bands now perform a lot more. The Magic tour was just a quick jaunt through Europe, which is unusual considering how much the stage and lighting must have cost to put together (at the time it was the biggest and best).
Some comparison...
U2 360 tour = 80 shows + more shows coming in 2010
U2 Vertigo tour = 132 shows
Rolling Stones Bigger Bang tour = 147 shows
Coldplay Viva La Vida tour = 172 shows
Bon Jovi Lost Highway tour = 113 shows

yes but ref the above how many years do bands like U2, The Stones & Jovi tour one album 2 - 3 years?
Metallica's Black album covered 241 shows from 91-93 again one album, so Queen did a hell of a lot considering writing & recording

A lot of it has to do with the fact that in the 70's a tour was basically made to promote the album as the bands lived off vinyl sales. Nowadays, loads of people download or copy the records, and the actual source of income are the tours. By the way, Jazz (a '78 album) tour had 78 concerts. Nice!

World Slavery Tour by Iron Maiden 1984 / 1985
193 gigs in 331 days
But also: Brian May did 94 concerts for Back to the Light between 1.11.1992 and 10.12.1992.
He played in Germany, Canada, US, Japan, Ireland, Israel, Switzerland, Hungary, Netherlands, Spain,
France, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Brasil, Urugay, Chile. So it seems as if this was his busiest tour so far.

Do they still play Beth?
FlorianS · Member since
No, as Peter Criss is not in Kiss anymore they dropped Beth a while ago. But I think it could be possible that they will play it again, as Eric Singer is also singing other Criss songs like noting to loose and black diamond.
