Joe was from Springfield Massachusetts here in the States. Freddie met him during the Jazz tour of 78 and he was on tour with them for the remaining Jazz tour including the Jazz tour of Europe and Japan of 79. He then moved in with Freddie after that and remained in the relationship for about a year after that.
