ok Skip, i wont attack you for the article...but i WILL attack you for the subject title...as it's clear as day you don't like Aerosmith.....and i can't see why...
Aerosmith are a great Rock n roll band...in the truest sense of the word....their music rocks, and they have lived real rock n roll lifestyles.....
Paul Rodgers would have dragged an interesting rock band story into mediocrity and tedium...in much the same way he did with Queen.

Now now, here's another question: Will it still be Aerosmith, or Aerosmith + Paul Rodgers?

they were going to call themselves Paul Smith, but the clothes designer threatened to sue.

They're a shitty band. Saw them twice in concert and Steven Tyler can't sing. His baboon noises are beyond sickening.
They were once a rock band then they turned into a really shitty pop band. The only good lps they released were "Get Your Wings" and "Toys In The Attic". Every other lp contains 90% filler. They're a band where the band members can't stand the lead singer and it shows (Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, in particular, can't stand him).
As far as Paul Rodgers is concerned, he didn't drag Queen down. Queen were already dead after Freddie died.
If anything he gave people like me who didn't have the chance to see Queen in concert the chance to see Brian May
and Roger Taylor in concert playing Queen songs. I had a great time and that's all that matters.

Okay, so this guy was invited to sing with Deep Purple twice and he turned them down on both counts. He was invited to sing with The Doors after Jim Morrisson's demise and he turned them down as well. He was invited to sing with Aerosmith (which may or may not have been a publicity stunt). He's been in Free, Bad Company, The Firm. He has a somewhat successful solo-career AND he's the only man who got Brian May and Roger Taylor to tour under the Queen name.

And people still have the nerve to say he's a shitty singer?! For fuck's sake - the man is a force of nature!

V.

I think he's a shitty force of nature. Like mudslides.

And I was one of the people that was happy Q+PR was taking place when we first found out. Because the first performances with him were new and had some energy to them. That 46664 gig where he comes out swinging at the start of TYMD told me that they were headed in a good direction.

If I'd known the collaboration would wind up the way it did, I would've been trolling against it from the start!
Paul Rodgers:
Good singing The Cosmos Rocks songs.
Great singing Free/Bad Company songs.
Mostly atrocious singing Queen songs. Wrong voice, wrong style, horrible improv.
God bless him for trying, but he was the wrong choice imo.

I agree to an extent. I think he did some Queen songs justice, and brought others to new and fresh levels. But some were just there because they were hits and they didn't match Paul's style.
Even if the entire show sucked, his last line of Bohemian Rhapsody forgives everything. It treaded new ground and hit incredible heights while being tasteful and completely respectful to the original. I couldn't imagine any other singer managing that without looking like a pompous ass.

I'm glad you pointed out the last bit of Bohemian Rhapsody. I remember very well when I saw the first clips online from Brixton 2005 and he did that thing on the end. I got shivers. in a very good way.

I think Brian should write less articles about badgers and more articles about beavers. Kerry Ellis' beaver, to be precise. Mmm mmm!
