OTOH: I liked the sound quality. The song is a crappy backing track, almost arrangement-less. Some few nice progressions (nice, "pretty" if you will. NOT clever, by any chance). Not more than that. And that little melody here and there is pretty weak.

That's the least of his problems.  Johnny Cash could play 10 chords.  You only need 4 or 5 chords to write a song that can be cherished for generations.  But in this case, Treasure Moment's music would still suck even if he had the combined skills of every musician Frank Zappa ever hired.
