here's a question for you.. its been a long 2 weeks so i may of missed a win but did Portugal only win one game and wasnt that 7-0 against North Korea? if so,that puts the Portugeuse on a par with the English but will the media go as hyberbole with them as they do the English? also,i would like to point out that Ronaldo was absolute bollox in this tournament, just as bad as Rooney. i blame that Nike advert or whatever one it was, everyone in it is out and played crap.no babies named Wayne and it wasnt just Homer Simpson saying "doh!"

You hit the nail on the head, Jon. The Portugese team was a huge disappointment and mainly Ronaldo was of no use at all. He simply is not the kind of leader who pushes a team and turns a match around. Ronaldo only looks good when the match is going well for his team, anyway.
However - the Portugese media will not slaughter the team in "English fashion". It's hard to understand why the English tabloids pour torrents of abuse over the players. After all, they did not go to South Africa intending to lose, they wanted to win and - other than the Portugese team - they never gave up fighting. The English national team has not won anything since over 30 years, maybe it's time that the media rethink their policy of creating so much extra pressure.
It's a good thing that the FIFA is now ready to introduce some technology into the games. Villa was also offside when scoring the only goal in the match vs Portugal.

^ I call it "Newcastle Delusion Syndrome" there's a football club in England called Newcastle United.they have a nice big stadium [70,000 cap],a loyal support and think they are one of the biggest teams in the world although they've won Fanny Adams since God was a boy. They just aint as good as they think they are and England are the same. ps,i now have the DT's because there's no footie until Saturday evening now *shakes* what odds on all 4 south american teams getting to the semi-finals? im now personally wishing for a Brazil/ Argentina final :-D

It seems the English press are just as mixed up these days. Apparently, the fan who go into the England dressing room was part of a "stunt" by some hack reporter
The only good thing to come from the World Cup thus far is the Vuvuzela button that's appeared on Youtube. I found out what it was while I was watching a rather depressing video about JFK.

wish the British tv companies would get their arse in gear, according to the listings there wasnt a match until saturday but there's 2 matches tomorrow :-p still gonna go for 3 south american teams in the semis although i have a feeling that Ghana may get a sympathetic referee in their game just to make sure there is still an african nation involved to the end.not that i would suggest a fixed match in the world cup at all,we know how honest they [ FIFA] are dont we? ;-p
