What Maylor (yes I used someone's joke--sorry) needs to do is to recruit Jeff Scott Soto! That guy can SING!
Really?
You might want to ask the boys in Journey about that. They'd rather have a philipino no-name. They're drummer had to carry Jeff through his tenure with Journey because Jeff couldn't hit the high notes.
But if they decide to sing I'm Going Slightly Mad all night, Jeff could do the job... so could you or I.
Jeff is much better suited to Queen than Journey (listen to Jeff's Queen covers-they are fantastic). Steve Perry is a countertenor--while Jeff is a tenor. You need to have a VERY high voice and range in order to sing Journey songs. Jeff did struggle on the highest notes (Deen Castronovo helped him out), but I give him ALOT of respect because he NEVER imitated Steve Perry (that's impossible to do), he put his own voice/spin on the material. Arnel SUCKS doing Journey--he goes flat ALOT, and YELLS the notes out.

actually jeff is a baritone (said so himself in an interview recently).
as I've stated before; if they don't do more with Paul, I'd would like to see the Queen name put to rest, cause otherwise the Queen brand turns into a revolving door of singers. (which journey now has become imo)
I'd love to see a may/taylor/soto tour though. jeff can do justice to alot of the queen catalouge, BUT: he knows them inside out, and therefore he sings (or tries to sing them) like Freddie. and no one can sing like Freddie. but once the same phrasing etc etc is there, it ends up sounding like Freddie light.
that's why I loved the QPR project. Paul did the songs his own way.

He's a natural baritone, but sings tenor (kinda like Freddie).
