Them Crooked Vultures: A Model for Brian and Roger

OK, you've been in a successful band for a while, in fact a VERY successful band for a while and you want to hit the stage again? The rest is history and Q+PR hit the road etc. Wouldn't a completely new band or 'supergroup' have been a much more exciting option, in fact a MUCH more exciting option?! I'm thinking Them Crooked Vultures and Chickenfoot. Sure Q+PR was fun, the album a bit limp with some 'moments' on it, but largely limp but what if this project had gone down a different route with Rog and Brian teaming up with someone a bit more contemporary? I guess the issue is that you have 50% of Queen, so any singer is automatically going to be compared to Freddie, despite the fact that the project may have had a different name and the bassist is suddenly 'not as good as John'! Maybe the Roger Taylor Hawkins Band may move in this direction?! Wonder what Brian could achieve if he had the desire? Never too old to rock!

Brian was put off by the small venues in North America, and probably elsewhere for BTTL and AW tours. So he can do Queen and play big halls forever doing old stuff, or try something new and challenging that needs to find an audience. Don't think he's too interested in option 2.

I love the fact that Them Crooked Vultures actually exist and are out there gigging. But have to say, I have just downloaded the album.... and its shit.

It's very, very far from shit. It's a mildly demanding album that requires more than just a casual listen and is one of the most rewarding records I've heard in a very long while. Having seen them live recently too has reminded me of just how brilliant rock and roll can be.
Outstanding.

Comparing Them crooked Vultures with Brian and Roger.
This forum gets funnier every day (in a very sad way).
Them Crooked Vultures are a hell of lot better than Brian + Roger in whatever formation ever will be.
My suggestion for Brian + Roger: RETIREMENT.

I LOVE the TCV album. They are incredible live.

I have to admit I like the idea of Them Crooked Vultures more than the music itself, but it's far from crap...

I agree with that. But then, the music was never going to be as good as the concept.

Great album by Them Crooked Vultures!
As long as there's no more of Queen +....... then I'll be happy as the Paul Rogers episode was beyond awful.

I agree with Zebonka. I think it´s a good-great album. Foo fighters will hit the studio again late fall so I don´t think a Taylor-Taylor thingie is in planning, neither a follow-up album from TCV. Gotta give Grohl some cred, he just wont stop!

There will be a second TCV album. 100% sure.

I rather like the weirdness of Warsaw, though the lyrics don't do much for me.

I had the pleaseure of seeing TCV's in Auckland recently and they were fucking amazing, a proper rock band just playing the music with no thrills. Not the best album but well worth a listen. Good effort.
Brian and Roger please take note, get back to doing it for the love of making the music and playing it.

I have no idea what Them Crooked Vultures or Chikenfoot are so I won't comment!

I like the idea of TCV more than the music itself, but I wouldn't mind seeing them live.
I think these rock millionaires are doing it for fun--which I think is more than a model for Roger and Brian.
I saw Q+PR several times and loved the gigs and liked the album, but I think it might be time to do something different.
