I'm a big Queen fan, and vinyl record fan.

I have mixed feelings when I see a rare Queen record being sold as a clock.

For example:

has a rare white vinyl 'The Invisible Man' for sale.

What are your thoughs on this?  Would you prefer to buy the record as a record or a clock?

Take a 1 dollar worth single + a 1 dollar clock mechanism. Sell it for 40, makes 38 dollars profit. Great business!

What do I think?
1 I think 'The Invisible Man' clear vinyl (it's not white!) isn't rare at all.
2 If people would like to make a clock out of whatever record they have: why not? I couldn't care less.

Oh, come on. Wouldn't you cry if you saw a numbered Blue BoRhap disc used as a clock and the owner told you he threw away the Picture sleeve, broke the champaign glasses and gave away the scarf to his mother 30 years ago?

I don't care much about what record it is actually - these clocks are just tremendously ugly....Yuck.[/QUOTE]

Never forget, any industrial vinyl or cd is just a copy of something, that is widely available. For me it's the song that counts, not the medium that carries it. Although I don't mind a good looking medium.

So if they turn a vinyl disc into a clock it may receive more attention than it would have had, if it ended up in the cupboard of some collector.

I would be worried if the original multitrack was cut into pieces and turned into a clock....

BTW...there was recently an exhibition in a german museum, where the floor of one room was covered with vinyl records and the visitors had to walk over them. It was a nightmare becoming real....it felt horrible...
