For nearly all of my mashups,I have used Audacity

Audacity is a pretty good multitrack and audio editor software ([url=http://audacity.sourceforge.net/]http://audacity.sourceforge.net/[/url]) and the best of all, is opensource so go and get ti.

I use "Adobe Audition"  Really easy to use.
