Has anybody read Brian May definitive biog by Laura Jackson?

Its quite a good book and really goes into detail about things especially around the time of freddie's illness and how the band coped with it

Would very much like to see an autobiography done by Brian himself though

Good parts about the music in the early years, but ultimately thin and derivative IMO.

I read Laura Jackson's Freddie and Queen biography and they were very similar, just one written from the band perspective and the other from Fred's. So didn't bother with this as I guess its just written from Brian's point of view and updated at the end for all the Queen+ and Brian+ stuff.

Recycled articles, one of the worst books written, if I can use the word so loosely, in any genre, ever.  Run away, it's beyond horrible.

You are spot on David. She just rehashed it as you say.

Back before the internet, when these biographies were all new fans had to get any backstory on the band, I read this when it was titled "Queen & I: The Brian May Story." I can't say how different that edition is from the current release. All I can say is I don't really read biographies anymore because they all start to sound the same and the facts obviously aren't going to change. What I would read is a memoir or autobiography of Brian, Roger or John, if only to get their point of view. I don't see it happening anytime soon since it's not Roger's style, John hasn't said an official word in public in years and Brian has his Soapbox, which gives us his perspective anyway.
