This is what I don't get: Whitney's voice is GONE from years of drug abuse, smoking, etc. Yet ELTON JOHN, Mick Jagger, and to an extent Freddie Mercury still have/had it. Granted Elton John is a baritone now (not a tenor), but he's always on key and puts on top live performances at 63!

she also went YEARS without singing - AT ALL. those other guys were/are continuous with singing, and have kept it in some shape.
people like whitney think theyve got it, and will always have it, regardless of how much they abuse it. i think with some rehab, she could get her voice back, but it will take a long time. when you go that long without humming a note, after having such an extensive range, to bring it back to her original punch. amy is in the same boat, i think :-\

I guess there's this fine of of being a singer: You use your voice too much--you will run into trouble. If you DON'T use it for awhile, you will run into trouble!

I can't resist posting this:
She probably lost her voice through too much yelling at her husband and kid. Women lose a lot when they become wives and mothers.

What, are you guys smoking crack?
Or perhaps that's what we need to do for it to sound right.
