It's bad enough, when I'm called a traitor and a communist, just because I'm politically moderate/liberal, agnostic, and don't worship at the Neo-Con Altar. Yeah, the McCarthy-attitude is in resurgence all over the Western world, it seems.

Yeah - probably a blip
I can understand how it's possible to 'snap' when provoked - I do think he could have chosen his words more carefully and perhaps made a bigger impact with diplomatic language rather than a tirade of abuse
I'm just not sure I like his superior tone....

I haven't signed up. Does that make me a bad person?
If you're insufficiently intelligent to even stick to the subject, please refrain from commenting, as it is already well-known that you are a useless prick, so any further evidence is superfluous
Hey dipshit. Did you even read Brian's letter? He brought up the chaffed hands!!!!
You go on fighting for Nazi Germany though. Hopefully Brad Pitt and the Basterds pay you a visit.
I believe you still hold the title of Queenzone Useless Prick, but I'm trying. Afraid of a little competition, eh?
On topic: I'm fully behind Brian on this one. Anyone who argues for artists to shut up about political/social issues belongs in North Korea or Nazi-Germany
So you like Barbara Streisand and Cher, with a little Bono thrown on top!!! Do you buy albums based on their political/social issues? I would rather they just shut up and sing. I didn't buy the concert ticket to listen to them rant. And I don't think that makes me a North Korean Nazi.
If you're insufficiently intelligent to even READ BRIAN'S LETTER, I suggest you try. But please go on commenting like you normally do. Ignorance is bliss, and you've got enough for us all to share.

That politician has no idea of how tough you have to be as a rock star. Sure, that countryside-living politician may have strained his back cleaning out a horse stall, or cut himself while trimming tall hedges, but has he ever fallen into a piano pit, landing on his back, while protecting a priceless guitar, then gone on to play a two hour show in front of thousands of screaming girls without letting onto the terrible pain? No. I didn't think so.

'Shut up and sing' Microwave?!!
That'd be a good one!

I remember reading an interview with Brian in Guitar Player magazine in the 1980s . He talked about gardening and how he used the "Wellington Boot method" to dispose of snails in his garden (presumably that means stamping on them?). How does that sit with animal rights? Is it only cuddly animals that Brian wants us to save, or the slimy ones too?
Incidentally, it's nice that the Save Me campaign was launched using some of those billboards Brian hates. I'm really confused now: should I hate billboards or like them? I'm off to lie down for a bit, do some pondering...

Have you not noticed that the pop stars who need to shut up tend to be the ones who are either obviously quite dim or completey detatched from reality? Dr May is neither - yes he is rich but remains grounded enough in the real world to see cruelty for what it is and researchs the subject so doesn't just restate some PR bollox for the cameras like many airheads do. We need a voice! The polititians are all too busy counting the expenses money/oil money/outside interests money/under the table money/buying 3rd homes with our money

What's a well-known, aged rock star going to do about that?
Besides release a couple more greatest hits CDs, a few books, and over-priced box sets and cash in.

Indeed. Everyone, included rock stars, shouldn't voice their opinions on anything. What good is being informed?

Brian just seemingly can't help himself, can he? Remember his "hate" for shows such as the X-Factor and the C-lebrity single.......only then to jump right on the bandwagon and agree to "mentor" contestants and allow Queen songs ot be used?
Sadly, he's a laughable character these days.......people really should be licensed to be able to use computers; Brian would be a prime candidate as someone that should take the "due dilligence" test and not be allowed anywhere near one other than specifically for the purpose of performing his job - producing music.

Research and reality? What I mostly see is spin (on both sides) and emotion. And that is never good grounds for public policy. Supporters may be 150% correct, but there is virtually no evidence of it yet. If there is an actual argument on the campaign site, which is a festival of genuine passion, extreme egocentrism and outright crackpottery, I think I've missed it. It's 90% babbling rhetoric (with pictures!) and 10% other.
I believe Brian's passion and conviction absoutely, and admire and respect his (somewhat ham fisted) willingness to use his celebrity for something meaningful. But in the end he's a fundamentalist on this issue who seems to lack broad empathy. I think he's building a small tent, which is truly a shame. I'd be thrilled to be wrong. I'd be thrilled if I felt there was a place for me, just to repay a fraction of what Queen has been to me. But I'm not optimistic.

Well, perhaps the source material is in question. The fact that the fundamentalist in question spends half his time in outer space lately, makes me think he might not be too grounded.
Remember when Streisand made her "comeback" performance? Televised everywhere, they practically shoved it down your throat. Took, what, two songs for her to bitch about her abusive parents?
So to quote many Queenzoners, my message to Brian (and Streisand for that matter) is "Wrong Forum".
