After several people have gone offtopic with non-queen subjects, I have decided to ask a question:
Does anyone here like classical music. Freddie was highly influenced by it and included classical like themes in his music. What is everyone's favorite composers?

In case that you do NOT consider Metallica and Black Sabbath "classical music", I'm a huge Beethoven & Mozart fan. My current ringtone is Marcia alla turca :-)

The so-called "classical music" is not as different from our "popular music" as many people think. Mozart's "Kleine Nachtmusik" is a three chord song, Beethoven's No 9 could be easily compared to early Pink Floyd containing amazing experimental sounds.
Those classical musicians lived like today's rock stars, they went on tour and lived from selling sheetmusic, which was usually copied once it was out (bootlegged...) even then. The only real difference was the instruments they had to work with. There were no amps, so the loudest they could get was an orchestra.
It's a joke in itself that to this very day certain people see classical music as more "worthy" or "intellectual". Read Mozart's private letters and you will see that it was only "Rock'n Roll"....and they even had long hair....;-)

I never see classical music as more "worthy" or "intellectual". But unfortunately some people do. But hey, some people think hiphop is the most intelligent music on earth! Stupidity runs opinions like that.
Me, I'm not much into classical music, though I can always enjoy Schubert's Impromptu's and of course those famous works like Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King (though I prefer Rainbow's version).

My favorite ares Tchaikosvky, JS Bach, Handel, and Scarlatti. There were just so many great composers. We don't have anything like this today except for the rare exception of a band called Queen

I don't see any form of music as more worthy than any other. The one thing that classical music has in its favour is that it has lasted much longer than (most) other forms of music, but that does not mean everything.
As it happens, I'm not a huge fan of classical music, although I am quite fond of Beethoven.

There is plenty of classical-related music that has been created in the last few decades: Yes, Frank Zappa, Secret Garden, and Karl Jenkins for starters. Worldwide there are thousands of composers who write classical music.

How many stars in the sky...anyway, here's an attempt...
Sergei Rachmaninov, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Gustav Mahler, Antonin Dvorak, Edvard Grieg, Igor Stravinsky, George Gershwin, John Cage, Yannis Xenakis, Frank Zappa. Even though he gets a little formulaic at times, I'd also like to mention Philip Glass for some of his masterpieces. On the whole, I am especially keen on pieces for solo piano or small group, though I also like symphonic works. I am not fond of opera, excepting Debussy's, and only rarely like vocal works (Brahms' "Ein Deutsches Requiem" and Berlioz' "La Damnation de Faust"). Usually, the problem is that I find many works over-orchestrated and under-composed.

I enjoy the "romantic" composers a lot: Beethoven, Chopin and my personal favourite, Sergei Rachmaninov.

I'm also not a big fan of Opera/Operette. But I really have no clue why I don't like it. Maybe it's the same reason why I don't like musicals.
I do like vocal works, I absolutely love those Renaissance motets and madrigals. my favorite composers from that era are Ockeghem, des Prez, Palestrina and Dowland.
I also admire composers like Stockhausen and Cage.
