I am gutted and bitter that my personal favorite, that androgynous Serbian did not win, that haircut was a winner.
Did you vote, Pete? ;) [quote]
Of course I voted, I bought 25 pre-paid mobile phone plans to cast several votes, learned basic Serbian/Greek to sing along with my favorites and studied their dance routines carefully. However, my wife was strictly opposed to the idea of getting Milan Stankovic-haircuts for the entire family.

Great, Pete :-) Finland gave Germany 12 points, thank you very mucho. Now they celebrate the winner like a national saint who redeemed the country after 28 years of failure at the Eurovision Contest. I heard there will be a Lena Meyer-Something statue in Berlin soon ;)

Hold on, someone actually celebrates Lena Myer-LandmineSomething? Germans should be celebrating their fantastic 4th place in the Hockey World Championships, and almost making it to the final. Or Michael Schumacher's 4th place in the Turkish GP last weekend (he drives well for a 109 year old 7time world champion), or celebrate Dschinghis Khan, the greatest German ESC group ever.
To be serious, I do think the ESC has been rigged for several years. I think nowadays they ask for a countries to volunteer to win the damn thing. It explains why Finland won. Just look at the list of winners from 2001 onwards... Estonia, Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine, Greece, Finland, Serbia, Russia, Norway and Germany. Something is wrong with that list, if we consider that these are winning countries of a "song contest".

^ its been rigged since at least 1968 when Franco rigged it for Spain to win
however,i had forgotten that Germnay hadn't won since Nicole back in 1983,makes the UK's woeful run in ESC seem ok now :-D
ps,did anyone else in Europe see the bit where Graham Norton was being interviewed in his boothe by the host and chatting to the UK "live" at the same time..naughty ESC :-D

Sorry Jon, but the English song was really bad - it might have had a chance in 1965!
Here is my all-time fave British Eurovision act:
An early appearance of Freddie's good friend and co-writer of "Barcelona" Mike Moran with the lovely Lynsey de Paul : Rock Bottom

I still like this song. Even if it is a bit cheesy.....
