3. Do we have an original De Lane Session reel? Of course we do. Do you think RT or BM would NOT have kept such a thing in their own collections???  Get real.

Yes, I do think that.  Hammy O 1979 master audio lost, losing multitrack master tapes when handing to Hollywood Records, not recording the video feed at Knebworth.....

I think them not retaining a master tape from very early demo sessions when they were not as rich as they are now, and didn't know any possible future significance of those recordings, is very plausible.

I think it may be you that needs to "get real" Greg.

Regarding Maylor not having a copy of the Music Centre sessions: didn't they also have no idea about Smile recordings until they surfaced?
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

I can't help feeling this is a shame all round. To be honest why can't someone else ANYONE else call John if QPL really want this? surely there are other people other than Brian and Roger who could contact him.

That being said, I think it's time John moved on from this spat with Greg and sorted out a face to face meeting with others involved and a simple contract of sale each can sign, surely it can't be that diffcult to set up so it doesn't just bounce around here on QZ?

For the sake of the archive and any future official release surely it's worth doing this on both parts?

One has to assume QP don't have these tapes or why go to all the bother of asking for them, and likewise surely someone from the organisation can call John, OK so they pay Greg, but surely even a PA can get on the phone and set up a meeting between John and QP? If they really want it Greg can just wait till it arrives and then archive it.

It's a totally pointless argument when it comes down to who did what to who when it's so long ago now, God this was being discussed in something like 2004...move on both of you

I really start to think that at least the second half of the Knebworth concert DOES exist on video. I really can't imagine how else could exist all these short pro-shot parts with camera angles identical to the video shown on the big screen :-(

Get real all of YOU in this Queenzone dispute....get a a life.
I´m embarrassed being an Queen admirerer since the 1970´s too read all this nonsense. I think this topic ruins the legend that is Queen. It´s way below worthy of calling yourself Queen supporters.

It´s like Greg says, it´s time to go on. Who cares about some lost master tapes.
The other Queen members have moved forward.

Someday we will se some great stuff that we all have been waiting for.

If Greg Brooks is serious all he has to do is pass on John's details to Queen Management and tell them John only wants to deal with someone 'at the top'. Totally professional: no need to go into details about why John has set conditions and no need for GB to lose face in front of his employers. Everybody's happy...

Except there's no need, Holly.

QPL have all the material anyway.  JSS has nothing they could want.  Greg was just being altruistic.

How difficult can it be.
Man, i am even close of writing the Dr. a mail.......

If Queen have moved on as you suggest, and we do the same, how would you expect to see "some great stuff"? When it comes falling from the skies?

Roddanrocks = GB getting a last ditch dig in whilst trying not to look like GB?
Roddanrocks = a newbie who doesn't know the history or what he's talking about but has piped in with some inane drivel anyway?
Roddanrocks = both GB and not having a clue what the fuck he's on about?

you decide....

========================

Wasn't it policy back in the early days, due to the fact they didn't have a lot of money, to re-use tapes for songs 'discarded' in the first place?

I have done a psychoanalysis of the GB/JSS commotion and this is my conjecture:

1.  QPL has whatever JSS has and therefore has no interest to buy the things that JSS proclaims to have,

2.  GB has things lined up in his proposed Anthology/box set project but he is afraid that his attractions could be diminished if JSS is to release them either by sale or sharing,

3.  GB openly hints that QPL has interest to acquire what JSS has in order to remind JSS that his things have potential value and therefore he should not give it away before QPL makes an offer.  This is to protect the attractiveness of his Anthology/box set project (point 2).

I believe the commotion was started by the hint of a proposed offer in this thread:
