1. Rock It 2. Long Way 3. Sail Away Sweet Sister 4. Hijack My Heart 5. Sheer Heart Attack plus all the others.
I personally believe the limited range of Roger and Brian held back some songs potential. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree with some of the stuff that Brian whined his way through (get rid of 'She Makes Me' completely and replace it with whiote noise if you have to), but Roger's singing ROCKS man! Wish he'd done more, but I'm so glad he's done far more solo stuff than any of the others. Roger is THE MAN and I can't wait for his new album.

____________________________________________________________________________________________ I agree with Brians wig, Roger & Brian's voice fit most of the songs they sang on & in the democratic band I'm sure Freddie would have agreed, if not, I'm sure he would have fought his cause.
now the only thing that comes to mind, about changing things on a Queen Album, would be the cringe-worthy "Meows" on Delilah!!!!!

'Would you change anything about a Queen album?' NO. NO I would not.>:-}
wanna know why?
because ALL the Queen albms are just perfect the way they are.(yes even hot space)
(IMO) Your actaully insulting Queen by saying how you would change their albums blah blah blah. Queen worked hard on their albums & produced some amazing stuff.

I agree with most comments on some of the songs sounded ok with the voices of Brian and Roger, but the fact remains the best Rock vocalist universally recognised, would have taken these songs to another dimension. For posterity keep the albums under EMI label in their present format, but if Universal find or gain access to Freddie's vocals on some of Brian's and Roger's songs re-release this material on a new re-mastered album I agree 'She makes me' is about the most boring and weak song in the Queen catalouge, and Delilah was the band indulging Freddie as his time was ending. As for Sheer Heart Attack if you listen carefully that is most definitely Roger on Lead with Freddie mixed in. Some Day / One Day would have sounded great with Freddie too.

Lead vocals on sheer heart attack is Freddie. Some nah and chorus is mixed with vocals of Roger and Freddie

In News of the world , who plays and sung what is stated very clear.

Considering that many of the Hot Space songs sounded better live (ie. with Queen's real instruments) than in the studio, sometimes I've wondered what a rework of that would sound like.

A Queen version of Polar Bear would've been a great addition to the debut album, as would a version of Hangman (with better lyrics!). However, Mad the Swine is one of Queen's most annoying songs and having that and Jesus on the same album might've been too Ned Flanders. Really interesting idea to start NOTW with It's Late: what a change in dynamics that would be, but still, I regard that album as almost perfect so it's still hard to vote for a change. I also like TRS-Romania and Dim's suggestions: great stuff! I've always regretted that Queen didn't release a double studio album around the ADATR period, and that they didn't do a concept album in the 1970s. Anyway, my suggestions: A Human Body instead of Coming Soon on The Game and they should've found a way to get See What A Fool I've Been on Queen 2 (probably instead of either Freddie's 'wall of sound' homage, Funny How Love Is, or Roger's weak Loser in the End); and Soul Brother instead of Body Langage on Hot Space.

In my opinion, the closest Queen ever got to a concept album was Queen II. The only song that overtly doesn't fit the fantasy/epic themes is "Loser In The End".
It's a personal preference thing, for sure, but I don't think I'll ever understand people's dislike for "Funny How Love Is." "The March Of The Black Queen" builds at the end and FHLI sustains that crescendo for about three minutes with a wall of sound, like we just climbed out of a dark and dangerous place and are standing triumphantly atop a mountain! The song just soars!
Anyway...obviously, I like it.
"See What A Fool I've Been," (I'm speculating a bit here) might not have been included on Queen II due to Brian not wanting the album to land in a copyright hassle. At the time, he couldn't remember which blues song inspired it and might have feared a lawsuit if someone said, "Hey, that's a rip off of my song!" Keeping it off meant the band had to deal only with residuals of "The Seven Seas Of Rhye" single and not the entire album's sales.
When he did find out, 30 years later, that it was Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee's "That's How I Feel," he said he was going to attempt to get a hold of their estates (they've both passed away) and settle the bill, as it were.

Queen - leave it alone Queen II - Loser In The End is the only weak track SHA - leave it alone ANATO - sheer perfection ADATR - leave it alone NOTW - replace Fight From The Inside with a Queen version of I Wanna Testify Jazz - scrap Fun It in favour of... a better song Game - add another Roger track later used for Fun In Space, and have Freddie sing all of Rock It Hot Space - Soul Brother instead of Action This Day, scrap Body Language, and shift around the track listing Works - scrap Man On The Prowl in favour of a Queen version of Man On Fire, and one more song as it's a short album Magic - lots of filler... write better songs, or do a Queen version of something from Mr Bad Guy or Strange Frontier Miracle - I Guess We're Falling Out instead of My Baby Does Me, Hang On In There instead of Rain Must Fall Innuendo - perfect, other than Delilah. But let the man have his wish. Made In Heaven - perfect, considering what they had to work with

I was thinkin the same thing about "See what a fool i've been". It's a great little encore to hear live though. The studio version released on the 1991 hollywood reissues, was very flamboyant and tongue in cheek. Probably the best version was the 1973 BBC version.
I wouldn't change anything about Queen II. I mean "loser in the end" isn't the greatest, though at the same time it isn't disasterous. It works for me at least. My point in making this thread, was just to see if people had their own personal opinions on why or why didn't Queen release certain songs that have remained unreleased.
The only conclusion i have for Hangman, is that it was unfinished. It does seem like it's missing some bits {lyrically}.
Polar bear, most likey because it was originally a smile track, and Brian didn't want to get into publishing rights with Tim Staffel. Doing Alright was released though, and in my opinion Polar Bear should have been added as well.
Silver samon is another supposed Tim staffel [maybe Brian may as well] track. It also seems unfinished the recording we're given. That could be because the band didn't remember all of it, and we're just practicing or building up to another song. Or perhaps rehearsing this song as a candidate for the eponymous album.
Feelings, is without a doubt an unfinished track. It doesn't seem to fit on News of the world [where it was supposedly recorded}.
I also have a question for everyone. Freddie brought over from Wreckage, Ibex {Lover, stone cold crazy,} to Queen. Brian took { Polar bear, Doing alright, the guitar solo in Blag} and brough them to Queen.
Why didn't Freddie bring over any other pre-Queen tracks? Or why do you think he might not have? Was he not the sole writer? Did he co-write the tracks that we know of? I don't the exact source of this piece of information. One of the members from either Wreckage or Ibex said alot of their tracks sounded like Led Zeppelin rip offs. Since this was one of Freddies biggest influences at the time.
I can't think of all of the tracks that we know are {Wreckage, Ibex} songs. These are some off the top of my head: Bag-a-blues, cancer on my mind, universal theme, and of course Green.

I would really add the to "I Want to Break Free" the synth intro that also featured on the single version. It just adds a lot to the song I would otherwise skip the hell out of.

Totally agree about funny how love is....Love the song and fit's perfectly on side black...I wouldn't touch it. On the other hand I would have replaced loser in the end (the only weak song on Queen2) with the brian tune see what a fool I'v Been. I alway's like that one.
