Actually, the real Freddie was killed off in 1980. The second Freddie first appears on home video footage, on a safari in Kenya, already sporting the moustache.

Mustache Fred is a terminator, sent back from the future by music critics to eliminate Kurt Cobain. After achieving this, Terminator Fred's power cells ran out, which was mistaken for AIDS. His remains were burnt to hide the evidence. The whereabouts of the real Fred are unknown, but some say he may be the leader of a resistance movement trying to stay under-the-radar from the government as he and and his mum plot to destroy the computer network Skynet in hopes of preventing Armageddon.
