White or red? Chilled or room temperature? Tough call. And the comments.  Nobody there thinks this story, with it's happy ending, is pretty funny?  There must be something wrong with me.

Although i dont like cats,I would NEVER see one come to harm.

Hope this guy rots in jail.

And another thing. How can you kill an animal "humanely".Apart from if the animal is suffering from injuries in which its life is just about non-existant.

No, you're not alone. :D I think it is extremely funny. For example I had no idea that neutered male cats could get pregnant! :D

I like cats quite fine, and would never see a cat come to harm either.  But the living marinade on something furry in a trunk was pretty funny. Cat washed off, adopted out, all is well.  The guy probably needs psyche rather than jail.

On humane killing: I guess most people concerned with this would agree that something quick and effective that eliminates fear and suffering as far as possible is what is needed.  Though I see that you perhaps seem to mean that the very act of using an animal's life for one's own purposes is contrary to some definitions of humanity.  Every living thing will furiously fight or flee or barter to retain it's life. It can be challenging when as a species you have the ability to both reason and make moral judgements to put that knowledge aside and just take your place in nature as a consumer at the top of the food chain. Easy in other ways because most of us are completely removed from the sources and processes that provide our food.  Animals rights people argue that this allows us to turn a blind eye to cruel and exploitative practices, and I think that's true, but it also produces forces in the other direction, which they never acknowledge,  because it allows us to place ourselves above the harsh realities of life and and to some degree fetishize the animal experience. It's a really tough one, though you'd never know it from listening to the animal rights narratives out there.

Oh yes they can.  They'll look you straight in the eye with those limpid pools of molten amber and claim otherwise, but it's a lie, and a trap. Never believe them. :p

Agreed. The next time a cat shits in my garden I want it arrested for public indecency.

It is a disturbing article.  I'm glad the cat made enough noise to get help.

It really annoys me when people only tend to care - and fight - for the well being of cute and cuddly animals. But when it has more than 2 eyes and more than 4 feet it should be crushed to death.

I feel that all animals (as apposed to just our species of animal) should have equal right to live. Which can sometimes cause difficult situations. For example: a couple of years ago there was extreme draught in Africa and groups of elephants were looking for water and food and ran into villages inhabited by Homo Sapiens and destroyed their structures and crops on their search. This is a case where you can't say "Let nature sort it out" because nature has equipped one of those 2 animals with a brain that is capable of making weapons which can exterminate an entire species in the blink of an eye.

I, of course, used the name 'homo sapiens' for we must never forget that we're just another animal. Not worth more, nor less than an elephant, butterfly or cricket.

So if you were driving your car along a road and a kid stepped out on one side and a dog on the other, you wouldn't know which one to try to avoid and which to run over, because a dog's life is worth the same as a human?

Well, I of course feel more affection to humans than to other animals. But that does not mean that a human life is higher or more valuable than that of a dog.  It just means that I feel closer to my fellow species than to any other.

Which are two totally different things!

I'm all for animal rights but let's not forget that there are a lot of animals out there that spread disease such as rats, pidgeons and certain types of insects so I think it's okay to kill them.

Then there's the animals who are bred for no other purpose than to provide the human race with food such as cows, pigs, chickens etc so we cant shed a tear for them, can we?

And let's not forget the big scary animals like lions, tigers, bears and crocodiles who would kill us if given half a chance so I feel it's only right that we take pre-emptive action against them.

Then we have the animals who amuse us with there antics like dancing bears, chimpanzees and killer whales at Seaworld. Every now and again it's neccessary to teach them who's boss by beating them to within an inch of their lives with a big stick just to keep them in there place.

Oh.. and spiders get the heel of my boot cause they creep me the fuck out.

Apart from them, we should live as one with our animal kin.

fatty.
