The three remaining at the store near me are the same three they've had since I bought mine on release date.  Unfortunately, they still have the $119.99 price tag.  The good news is they're probably going to be here a while longer at that price.

I should look into whether any of the NYC area Best Buy locations have leftover stock of those boxsets. Am planning (tentatively) to go back to NYC sometime in October.

Screw Best Buy.  Do you know about their 15% restocking fee if you return something, even in its original packaging with the bill?  It has to be the second-worst western retail outlet next to Walmart.  Buy it somewhere else.

When I lived in the States I found Walmart to be brilliant. I bought a tent in September, used it to go hiking in yellowstone the next May, then returned it to Walmart in June and they refunded me the whole amount, and this despite it looking like it had been repacked by Stevie Wonder. Walmart is great for decent quality cheap products. Yes, I know all the arguments about small businesses being pushed out, but if it wasn't for Walmart I might not have made it through the year. When I moved back to the States for five years, again, I found Walmart to be very handy. Kmart wasn't as good, but was still okay. Maybe you're just too familiar with it? I wish we had Walmart in the UK.

^ "despite it looking like it had been repacked by Stevie Wonder" Ha!...you may take the rest of the day off.

I find shopping at Walmart to be a grim experience overall, and generally avoid it when I can.  More than anything else it's the hordes of shopping humanity that get to me, and the ugly retail sprawl that is the price of one stop convenience.  There's no doubt it offers value that is sometimes essential for individuals and families, but for me the prices sometimes drop to the creepy level.  I bought some snow pants this year that were $10 at regular price. Now I don't know if you've ever had to deal with snow pants, but they are not an insubstantial garment.  Lots of material, lots of layers, lots of assembly.  Somebody or something has to be suffering somewhere for that item of clothing to be offered at that price.

The problem with Walmart as it's experienced in small and mid size communities here is that it eventually does chew up nearly everything else in it's path, and you suddenly realize that your shopping options have become much more limited.  It does tend to create an impatience with corporate retail realities, and a nostalgia for small shops and living, breathing downtowns.

WOULD love to get the Japanese edition with the SLIJ Highlights on CD, as well as the Best Buy boxset with the reissue LP's.

I was in a bargain music store in Cheshire Oaks, Wirral the other day and picked up the Japanese edition with the Super Live highlights for £3.99 - would rather have Super Live in its entirety, but for that price I didnt mind buying the album again for the extra disk!

"Some Things That Glitter" and "I Loved A Butterfly" are definitely the same song.

^ Brian looks and sounds great. That really is a worthwhile song, and though Kerry's particular style doesn't really click with me I suspect the song will be noticed and appreciated by many.

As for the song, have a listen here..

Go to YouTube, type in "Kerry Ellis," "I Loved A Butterfly" and "BBC"...it'll come up (or it should).

It's beyond me why people are always accusing Brian of being self-serving when he's one of the least self-serving people on earth.

One example I would say is the Queen Rocks compilation.

When I first bought it I was dumbfounded as to the gluttony of Brian May songs when MANY songs were written by Roger & Freddie that would work....

Ogre Battle, Modern Times Rock & Roll, Liar.... Heck even John had If You Can't Beat Them which was certainly a rocking song. (I'd have omitted Now I'm Here, Fat Bottomed Girls, One Vision, & We Will Rock You for some of these. I'd also habe included Dead On Time instead of one of them as well....)

I'd have also lost No One But You, Doesn't fit on there in my opinion.

The truth is Brian did pen a lot of the heavier songs, but certainly not all of them, so it should be no surprise that it's a Brian-heavy release. Also, based on interviews he gave at the time, it was really his project, putting it together as something for people to crank loudly in their car. Maybe you could take that as self serving, but not having been in the meetings with Brian and Roger (and probably John), who knows what was discussed.

It's very possible Roger didn't want "Modern Times Rock And Roll" on it, given his hot and cold feelings on some of his songs. Songs like "Princes Of The Universe" or "Ogre Battle" are bit esotaric on their own and might turn off casual fans who just want to rock old-school, or so Brian may have thought.

"No One But You" was a brand new Queen song, debuting on Queen Rocks. It was newly recorded and coincided with that collection, so of course they're going to put it on the latest release.

Yeah, but Ogre Battle was older, plus Tear It Up, Put Out The Fire, I Want It All & I Can't Live With You were "newer" as opposed to the other stuff I mentioned. Why not do Princes? They had ones from 82, 84, 89 & 91 albums, why not 86?

I meant old-school in terms of songs about women and cars and rocking out for the sake of rocking out. A certain percentage of the casual rock audience might have felt "Ogre Battle," "Liar" and "Princes Of The Universe" were kind of weird, or at least I can imagine the band thinking that when putting the collection together. Their aim was to reach as many listeners as possible, so they employed the most commercially accessible songs, plus a new one.
