As I recentyl heard about Singles Collection vol. 4 release date I decided to check out the Amazon.com
When I was searching through the 'release date" I encountered something strange. Amazon stated that "Rock You From Rio" was released by Queen, in 2009. I was surprised as I read on this forum that It is indeed a bootleg. Well, I listened to the music samples on their site and I'll tell you what - the quality is much better than on the video.

So what do you think ?  Is it possible that Queen would silently release their stuff without shouting from corner to corner about remastering process and all that ?

Cheers !

It's a pirate release

And it's definitely not any better quality.  I listened to the audio samples, and it's the same mix, EQ, fake audience noise added, everything.  The samples are horribly compressed too, so even if it was an improvement of some kind, it'd be pretty difficult to tell from the samples.

The original Laserdisc (and VHS?) this DVD was made from wasn't an official Queen release, as far as I know. It fell into that grey area of releases like the "We Will Rock You" Montreal concert and "Live In Budapest."

Are the only two officially released tracks from Rio: "Love Of My Life" and "Rock In Rio Blues"?

Yep, just those two tracks.  Btw, the video release was Queen Films, unlike WWRY and Budapest.

I had not picked up either the recent Rio DVD or CD, suspicious their origin and quality. From the comments here, it sounds like that was a wise decision. I have nothing against unofficial releases or bootlegs, but I expect some quality.

Thanks :-)

Live in Rio and Live in Budapest are official VHS releases

They aren't Queen Productions releases is what I meant.

Ah, I see.

The packaging on the North American VHS release of Budapest (which I own) does say Queen Films...very very  small. I assumed it was a 3rd party-owned release. My mistake.

We also had difference artwork, which looks like some company just slapped it together.
