My sister bought the new A-HA best of today called 25. In the liner notes it says that when the band were offered the chance to record the tune for The Living Daylights, it said that Queen had offered tracks to the producers to use. Any truth in this of does anyone have any more info. Thanks in advance

I guess we're all just very gullible as this is obviously a wind up.
Nobody would buy a "hits" collection by A-ha :)

Just kidding.

At a given time, Freddie was associated with the movie "Conan The Destroyer." He was supposed to write two songs for this film.
It would be curious to know if there is any kind of material that was recorded but never used.
There is no doubt that exists a lot of unheard Queen music on the vaults.

I Want It All would be a great James Bond title song

I'm thinking you're all missing the big question here.

A-HA has a greatest hits CD???  WTF

I have a-ha'a Greatest Hits on vinyl: the 7" single of "Take On Me"...(yes, I do own this 45).

Seriously, though, I'm very curious about the quote in this a-ha Greatest Hits' liner notes. Any chance you can copy the the exact quote for us here? I'd love to see precisely what it says about the request for Queen to works on The Living Daylights.

Principal photography for TLD started in September of 1986, which would have been after the Magic Tour ended (which was August). From a chronological standpoint, the band was available. Freddie was already working in the studio on "The Great Pretender", "Hold On" and the Barcelona tracks.

As for Conan The Destroyer, I had not previously heard of Freddie being asked to do two songs. However, it IS plausible. The band was working on The Works at the time and Freddie was working on Mr. Bad Guy. He had also worked on "Love Kills" for Metropolis and "Foolin' Around" for Teachers. Conan was a Dino De Laurentis production, Dino hired Queen for Flash Gordon, so it's certainly in the realm of possibility that he would contact Freddie.

I'm thinking it was a misquote.

Freddie said he wanted to "work on Conan The Destroyer".   He meant Arnold Schwarzenegger.

".......A lot of people actually approached me to write for film.
At the moment there is one idea that just I don´t know if ever come off and it is, they asked me to write the title track and other song for the new Conan movie that’s got Arnold Schwarzenegger and Grace Jones. I love Grace Jones and they said if I can write a song to her and I love to do that. So I mean, that it is where come from…."
Words of Freddie Mercury on an audio interview recorded in 1984.

I have this audio recording. So, the idea was around at that time.
No idea if he ever record any song or even any demo for this project.
