Just heard that film director/producer Dino De Laurentis has died, aged 91.
Of course us here at Queenzone will be eternally grateful for Dino's foresight in  charging Queen  with  the task of providing the music to his 1980 film 'Flash Gordon'. Queen done an excellent job and perhaps this illustrates that maybe  Queen could have had a lot  to offer the film industry had the diverted down that road on occasion.
     God bless you Dino, RIP.

Dino de Laurentiis (with double i!) was producer of "Flash Gordon", not director. Anyway, "Flash Gordon" isn't main gem in his filmography. For example, he has produced perfect film-noir "Blue Velvet", directed by David Lynch. This film's much better than "Flash Gordon".

R.I.P Dino, you was one of best producers!

I love Flash Gordon...I'll take it any day over some pretentious "noir" film.

Opinions, opinions.

And I love the soundtrack too...INCLUDING the theme song(not JUST "The Hero").

I remember the 1984 L.A. Olympics when 'sychronised swimming' was revealed to the world and lo and behold, 2 beauties proceseded to do their routine to.... wait for it..........'The Kiss' from Flash Gordon'. Freddies soaring ''ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh's'' were phenomally effective and fitting .  'iT'S GOT TO BE GOLD!'  I bawled at the telly.
Can't recall what they  got though, but every time i hear' the Kiss' this memory comes back to me.
