Freddie and Brian inspired each other in the 70's......We all know this, but what i'm curious about is who's song was written first. It started on Queen2 with White Queen and Black Queens. I think i remember hearing a interview that white Queen was written first, perhaps inspiring freddie. The next album had flick of the wrist inspiring Brian May to write now i'm here. the songs i'm most curious about are We Are the champions and we will rock you......Which was written first?.....the next obvious songs are Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race. Sadly once they hit the 80's they no longer fed off each other like the early days.

I reckon they were damned unstoppable, at their best.

Champions predates Rock You by at least two years.
Bicycle, IIRC, also predates Fat Bots according to what's been said.
White Queen (at least lyrically) comes long before Black Queen.
Flick of the Wrist (and the rest of the SHA album) would also be pre-NIH.
As for writing in similar veins, they did it all the time: Body Language vs Dancer (well, so so), Princes of the Universe vs Gimme the Prize, The Hitman vs Headlong (in some aspects more than others), plus a bunch of songs on which they collaborated (Show Must Go On, Bijou, Mother Love).

I forgot to mention Bo Rhap and the middle section of the prophet song. Think Bo Rhap was written first perhaps inspiring Brian.

They were at the time quite competitive with each other - often that sort of relationship spurs people on to each write greater stuff.

In my mind Brians "Save Me" was somehow inspired by Freddies composing stile and "Calling all Girls" was Rogers retry of Freddies "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".
