Queen on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert

Don Kirshner's Rock Concert ran on ABC in USA from 1973-1981. The format was usually to have performers come on and do a live set, sometimes, rarely, promo video's would be shown. I have a copy of season 04 episode 20, broadcast on 8th of February 1977. It featured the Hyde Park promo for Sweet Lady and the video for STL. Performers: Van McCoy, the Brass Construction, Queen, and comics Johnny Dark and Al Alan Peterson. Songs include "The Hustle," "Party," "Night Walk," "African Symphony," "To Each His Own," "Soul Cha Cha" (Van McCoy); "Changin'," "Ha Cha Cha" (Brass Construction); "Sweet Lady" and "Somebody to Love" (Queen). Queen also appeared on this show in 1976 with the Bo-Rap flames version, an episode which also featured Ike & Tina Turner. Season 03 episode 24. Performers: Ike & Tina Turner ("Oh My My," "Sexy Ida"); C.W. McCall ("Convoy," "Green River," "Classified"); Queen ("Bohemian Rhapsody"); and Lisa Hartman ("Pickin' Up the Pieces"). Some more undated episode information. 1.  The performers are Al Stewart, Chubby Checker, the Bay City Rollers, Queen, Blondie, the Babys, comic Rick Podell and the Mime Company. Musical selections include "Year of the Cat," "On the Border" (Al); "Pony Time," "Peppermint Twist," "The Rub" (Chubby); "Yesterday's Hero" (Rollers); "X Offender" (Blondie); and "If You've Got the Time" (Babys). 2.  Episode Detail: Queen, Al DiMeola, Ian Hunter - Don Kirshner's Rock Concert 3.  Music by Queen, Janis Ian and Dan Hartman; and comedy by Jimmie Walker. Songs: "Bicycle Race" (Queen); "The Bridge," "I Need to Live Alone Again," "Tonight Will Last Forever" (Janis); and "Instant Replay" (Dan). Interesting. It seems it's the same cut which was shown on OGWT together with Brian's interview, and later released on the 30th anniversary of ANATO DVD

Oh God that show brings back some late night memories. Could hardly stay awake when Queen was on. I believe there was an episode Blondie hosted where the promo clip for Bicycle Race was shown. I think the date was January of 79. Or was it The Midnight Special? Either way, Don Kirshner and his "comb over" introduced Queen!
